Maidstone always slump around Christmas; last season several loan signings saw us start a run of epically brilliant form. Just need one win to kick start the confidence. Will today be the day?
No it wasn't :D

Holts role is clearly no longer as an out an out striker - he's past that. What he still does very well as per yesterday is to hold the ball up and lay it off. So he needs pacey players around him. He seems to have quickly built a relationship with Luke James who does have pace and it worked on several occasions yesterday. Holty needs to be judged by his assists rather than his goals.

His weight is a bit of a myth. He has clearly lost quite a few pounds since rejoining us and I reckon is now not much heavier than he was at Norwich/Villa/Huddersfield/Wigan. He's just older. In fact he played the 90 minutes yesterday and ended up playing an important but not that obvious role in the second half when the pressure was really applied, by protecting the ball when he got it, taking the pressure off the defence and when possible enabling the counter. AP clearly wanted him on the pitch.

Good post yet again SB.

I've been theorising about Holt in midfield behind the strikers since his return as have many others no doubt. It won't be lost on Pennock either, and now we have seen that Grant is not the goal machine of yore it would be well worth a try methinks using the Diamond Barry theory.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Bang on, was much better than he was at Torquay.
