Th difference is the football is owned and run by one person who runs it as a autocracy
Quite happy to have people to do jobs but not really involving them in the club strategy or decision making.
The Rugby have involved the community and are working towards the one goal .
Not seen many promises they just actually get on and do things.

If 1000 turn up tomorrow I will be pleasantly surprised because they won't bring many.

I've only been to the Rugby once 47 years ago.Jonty wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2018 8:28 pm That was a great crowd there. It would be interesting to hear the views of fans who watch both teams about the respective match day experience at Craven Park/ Holker Street, things we could do better, things we are better at. One thing you can’t do at the football (any football match) is have a drink on the terraces whilst watching the game. A ruling which is surely overdue a review.
Is it as derelict as Holker Street?

Not quite as derelict .Pedro wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2018 8:58 pmI've only been to the Rugby once 47 years ago.Jonty wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2018 8:28 pm That was a great crowd there. Re: Whats happening to our club
Easy to compare but there are a lot of differing factors.
Rugby are doing well at the moment and we aren't, hence the attendance's. There will have been times over recent seasons where that was the other way around.
They also have the benefit of having local players, not really comparable with football as its different sporting levels. I'd genuinely guess each local player would have a handful turning up to specifically watch them, friends, family etc.
That's said they are better at the basic stuff, community engagement, social media, merchandising, sponsor nights etc. For some reason the club don't seem to get it, or they don't want to...

Some do, most dont, I played for the rugby and did all my contract negotitions. The aussie lads and some out of towners had agents.thats about itHolkerbird wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2018 7:36 pmJust a serious question. Do rugby players have an agent? They are leeches that are taking money out of football. Another nail in Association football's coffin even at our level.northscaler wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2018 5:36 pm The rugby have the right people in place and don't rely solely on family members with no experience in football to try and run the club.
The sponsor nights the rugby do are fantastic.
Re: Whats happening to our club
Most footballers do.. even at lower league levels... lower than National League. Unfortunately it's very very easy to become an agent now also...beachy01 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2018 9:53 pmSome do, most dont, I played for the rugby and did all my contract negotitions. I,ve followed the soccer and rugby for 50 odd years and seen great games by both teams. The last two at Craven Park have given me more excitement and pride in our team that all those at HS this season. The rugby lads play for the shirt and each other and for a hell of a lot less money than our football "aces" ( Evening Mail terminology not mine). Some up HS don't know what sweat is. Hopefully the manager is starting to turn that round and get it back to what it was when young Yates was here.

Ryan Yates is currently in football league playing for Scunthorpe United on loan from Nottingham Forest.Rico wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2018 11:31 pm I,ve followed the soccer and rugby for 50 odd years and seen great games by both teams. The last two at Craven Park have given me more excitement and pride in our team that all those at HS this season. A few multiple profile shit stirrers on here starting off this debate, it's not constructive the original post designed to damage the club
Axes to grind
We can do better commercially and many ways but this isn't really about debate it's about the usual suspects getting the knife in.

Andycoops wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2018 5:00 pm This is going to come across as very negative but what’s happening to our club compared to the rugby. Their connection with the town is massive. Sponsored links on social media, commercial people in place, volunteers and a new supporters trust. Any idiot can see its working but we seem content just to go through the motions in a serial decline on all fronts.
So is that right Andycoops? Was your post 'designed to damage the club'? Because you have to admit we've done it to death on here, our dreams didn't come true and now we are at the point where we are just going to get on with supporting the team.Bingo wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2018 7:12 am A few multiple profile shit stirrers on here starting off this debate, it's not constructive the original post designed to damage the club
