Home Attendances
Re: Home Attendances
Having watched a couple of Alty games this season the standard in the NL North is also pretty poor - the National League Premier games I'v attended this season is very superior and far more watchable - nobody is their right mind would want to get relegated the standard is always poorer in the next division down. Also I go to watch Barrow play and not the opposition - if they are a good opposition such as Leyton Orient then that just tells us where we want to be.

Re: Home Attendances
I think many on here are viewing the current situation through rose tinted glasses.
I've stopped going due to lack of interest and so have many others - look at the attendances for this season! One season ticket holder on here recently spoke out about NOT re-newing his season ticket for the next. Why do you think that is when the team are playing good football?
The only thing that is going to create interest for the people of Furness is a successful team with a spanking new stadium. And that isn't going to happen! We all know that - with due respect to the current board. And please don't tell me that next season our squad will be strengthened for a promotion push - where's the money going to come from? We'll be lucky to survive another season in the NL with or without Evatt.
I would dearly love to see Barrow soccer back in the FL (I regularly stood on the Holker End terraces when they were) but it isn't going to happen unless we have MAJOR investment. Playing good football isn't going to have a drastic improvement regarding attendances and neither will building new toilets, selling pies or having a new merchandising stand in the ground.
Paul Casson's broken promises, promises that once generated so much optimism, have been diluted to the point that now only apathy prevails in the town. Look at the size of our attendances when good football is apparently being played.
We only have limited resources. We need to re-generate a sense of passion and pride for our club within the town. If playing a team comprised of a few local lads infused with players who WANT to live in the locality will do this, bring it on! If dropping down a division in the near future leads to revamping and re-building the club with the opportunity to interest and attract a major investor...bring it on!
I think many on here need to take off their rose tinted spectacles and become more aware of the actual reality of our predicament. Yes; pedicament!
An away win at Wrexham and playing attractive football in front of steadily decreasing attendances in an archaic, decaying, stadium - a stadium that is totally devoid of atmosphere - does NOT make a successful club.
Wake up!

Re: Home Attendances
The trouble with being small minded and negative and hoping that someone is going to solve all of your problems is that never happens- the least you can do is turn up and support the team / if you can’t even do that , wtf are you doing on the fans forum ?

Re: Home Attendances
Attendances have been steadily falling for years, it’s not going to be an easy, or quick fix to improve them.
What I personally find annoying is pre-Cox people said a winning team would improve attendances. Then we got a winning team but people said it needs to be attractive football before they’d come back, we’ve got that and still the gates don’t improve.
Some people will always have an excuse.
We just need to chip away at things that “might” get people to return, or even interest the previously uninterested. It can be done, I have a mate who I dragged to a pre-season game and he has only missed two home games since.
The new owners have plenty of ideas, and good ideas, we just need to carry on backing them and try and drag a friend or two to an odd game.
I don’t think dropping a league will do anything at all to improve attendances.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: Home Attendances
Where the football club fits in the community and fans feeling connected with the club are what will build and importantly sustain our fanbase. This is the main area that the new board has to address.
We beat Wrexham away midweek,...main football discussion next day - Man City 7-0. This is what we are up against.

I don’t think anyone on here is viewing the situation through rose tinted glasses. All will recognise how hard this is going to be and that is why we need disenchanted fans to draw a line under what has gone on, stay on board with the club and show support by coming through the gates. Regardless if we are in the top 5 looking for a chance at promotion or in the bottom 5 fighting relegation. Please get through those gates on match day! Or if you can’t get to games, show support in others ways and be positive about what is happening at Barrow. If everyone takes your view then we will soon be in a downward spiral. The Tomahawk Kid wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 3:50 pm I think many on here are viewing the current situation through rose tinted glasses.
Here’s an offer to you (and anyone really) if you have some spare time on Sunday mornings and would like and can get down to the club and help out with one of the many jobs that the volunteers are helping out with. There’s all sorts going on and it helps the club enormously. Loads planned pre season at the ground too.
The club needs needs all the support it can get so please don’t dip out now.

Re: Home Attendances
Tony Keen said he thought we'd be better off in Conference North - initials TK.
Tomahawk Kid - initials TK... coincidence?
If you think dropping a division would have a single positive consequence, you are a psychopath.
Only realistic way to boost attendances is to have some success - a play-off appearance, a good cup run, a promotion.

Absolutely classic The Tomahawk Kid, posts something controversial, post gets taken apart, he posts something back mansplaining and underlining certain points for emphasis, this isn't just a problem faced by us but by football clubs up and down the country i.e. how do football clubs appeal to the netflix generation but there are certain factors here that make our situation different namely the geography and there is work that can be done to help that.

I’ve been to quite a few CN games in the past couple of seasons..Chorley, Stockport, Alty, Curzon, FCUM..if we dropped down a league & started from scratch we wouldn’t get out of it!.

No idea why Holker old boys, in a lower league with local players aren't getting 2000 a gameThe Tomahawk Kid wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 3:50 pm I think many on here are viewing the current situation through rose tinted glasses.

Re: Home Attendances
I just think other clubs have over taken us with better attendences we used to be one of the bigger supported clubs in the northern premier league days we only attract extra fans with a promotion push or when we get promoted for the first few games an when we have a good cup run most people you speak to in work etc have no intrest in the club whatsoever you need to get the kids intrested at a young age so they build that bond and affiliation with the club also i think people want better facilities these days so that puts people off aswell
