I wouldn’t have thought so; ‘Mogs’ was playing local rugby league most Saturdays at the time. There was always a raucous element at Barrow and this group became more stylised as they copied what like minded individuals were wearing at United, City, Liverpool etc.

I would think the ‘boot boys’ moniker was adopted after the visit of Fulham who sprayed ‘Putney Boot Boys’ at one or two locations about the town. That was the first time l had heard the term which was in reference to the must-have Dr Martens air-wair boots of course.

Us Young ‘uns had to make do with monkey boots. I was jealous of my mate though because he had a pair of Major Domos

Think there is blurred lines here between first wave skins from late 60's and later mid 70's "bovver boys" who had some of the look.

Apparel was hard to come by in those days. You had Hepworth, Burtons, Impact 4 and Henry’s, oh and the market! Not many travelled away for clobber.

The first time I saw "boot boys " was when Fulham came they started after that game and went on for about 4 more year's eventually becoming "crombie boys "!
