Re: Derby Games .....EFL2
Carlisle were a pretty strong side in those days and had a reputation for playing good, passing football on one of the best pitches in the leagues. They went on to become a rock-solid Division 2 (Championship) side for many years before topping Division 1 for a few brief days. Then the wheels came off...
It all comes 'round again.

Think Carlisle at home will be one of the biggest league attendances we've seen for many years.

Re: Derby Games .....EFL2
Hope if we cannot travel away to Carlisle we are on an equal footing on Radio Cumbria Do we expect 1 commentary team or will we have Adam covering for us and the Carlisle team for them. Chris Lumsden seems to admire Dunny so it might not be too negative
Re: Derby Games .....EFL2
Some good attempts above! But on double checking, I reckon the match at at Brunton Park on 17th April 1964 was not a traditional Saturday 3 pm kick-off but a Friday night match. So, if we assume a 7.45 kick off (which might be another error, perhaps it was 7.30?) then at the time of submission of my original e-mail it would have been 56 years, 3 months, 7 days, 19 hours and 21 minutes since the last kick-off. But of course it's more than that now . . .

You would have to say the derby game is Carlisle just as it was the Workington fixtures that I always regarded as our derby games in our last period in the league. Morecambe were non league and Carlisle were usually at least a division above us in the sixties if I remember correctly.

Morecambe every time. They were traditionally our rivals when I was a kid. That's not to say I'm not looking forward to locking horns with Carlarl.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.
If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

Yep makes perfect sense to separate Cumbria into North and South, CCC they want to create a single unitary authority abolishing the individual councils therefor further annexing us to Carlisle, they can stick that where the sun don’t shine.Hadrian wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 3:46 pmWith the prospect of further local government change on the agenda, maybe not.mickmike wilson wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 2:49 pm

Re: Derby Games .....EFL2
It's the travel links that make the difference. The 590 and railway lines lead to Lancaster. Carlisle will be the local derby and Lancashire vs Cumbria. My birth certificate says Barrow-in-Furness LANCASHIRE

Just say no to VAR

If away fans are allowed in grounds the first fixtures I look for in order will be Carlisle, Morecambe, Bolton and Bradford
