Would have been better sticking with the players we had. Sometimes, its better the devil you know.
There's a lot of hindsight wisdom on here. Wasn't everyone crying out in December for new signings in January?

In any case, it's far too early to tell. Most of the people Jolley has brought in have good experience and seemed well thought of by fans at their previous club.

We looked and are so poor playing 4 at the back , our squad is designed to play with wing backs the new lads all pjayed in the same way at their former clubs ,josh kay is a left wing back only a bloody good 1 mind , no trick just power and pace he's been tried on the right and through the midgle with zero success, we sat so deep against Cambridge with our wingers shaking hands with the full backs or should i say inside right midfielder c taylor it gave no width whatsoever any team in l2 would look good given the space afforded to Cambridge, if play 442 at least play 2 out and out wingers and not square pegs at all that , looking at mj management at Grimsby and abroad he's always played with wing backs I hope he reverts to it personally, just my views , always a bluebird ..

Exactly. We gave them the freedom of Holker Street. If we'd given Cheltenham that much respect they'd have rolled us over as well.

I hope we go for the jugular against Exeter otherwise it'll be hard to watch.

Do we have a list of which players are in the 22 to be able to play and who isn’t ?

These 20 are definitely in the 22
(the squad from last Saturday plus Platty and the two most recents signings):

1 Dixon
29 Eardley (loan)
31 Thomas (loan)
22 Davies (loan)
3 Brough
28 Chris Taylor
42 Banks
32 Donohue
11 Kay
36 Devitt
9 Quigley
10 Hardcastle
12 Lillis
14 James Jones
16 Beadling
30 Bramall (loan)
33 James
5 Platt
Ndjoli
Goodridge (loan)

In addition Sea is aged 19 and Maloney (GK) is aged 20 and both are permanently signed, so will not could towards the 22 player cap.

That leaves two places between these lads:

Brown
Hird
Zouma
Wilson (has just turned 21, so may get into squad due to age?)
Ntlhe
Barry
Mike Jones
Jason Taylor
Gribbin
Penfold

Burns and CBR loaned out, so clearly not in the 22.

If that’s correct, I’d vote for Brad Barry and Jason Taylor for the final two places. Both have experience and both really fight for the team . Hard on the others .
especially those who were part of the title winning squad and have served this club so well.

Fairly sure at least four of them are under 21.

The exemption for under 21s isn’t applicable to players that are loaned in.

Seems a bit unfair on J Taylor Hird Barry so far the new ones not looked much better Brown was playing not bad this season either will trust the managers view and think we will improve, but if we don't questions will be asked.

We’ll get ripped apart anyway. Fully expect 0 points again Tuesday. Why not take the game to Exeter instead?
agree - this setting up not to lose doesn't work we go a goal down and then can't change it - attack attack attack
And if we get well beaten that will do the team`s confidence no good , we can still attack with a defensive midfielder where did i say don`t attack ?, we just need to press more and show some energy /desire to compete that`s what was missing irrespective of what formation we play without this we are definitely going down !

Are you sure about that?

This Port Vale article suggests otherwise.

https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/f ... me-4960939

"Following Visser’s injury, Vale brought in former Manchester City academy keeper Tom Scott to cover for experienced keeper Scott Brown.

They also signed striker Will Swan and centre half Mustapha Olagunju, on loan from Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield Town respectively.

Because Scott, Swan and Olagunju are all under-22 they don’t count towards the squad limit."

Agreed, particularly as in the 5 matches before the manager brought in 2 central defenders we had conceded just 2 goals in 5 matches with a back 3 of Hird, Platt and Brough playing in 4 of those and a back 4 with Jones and Platt as central defenders in the other one which would indicate there was absolutely no need to bring in any central defenders. While Jason Taylor may not start many games, he is still the only decent truly defensive midfielder we have and would be very handy coming on to protect a lead and Brad Barry is definitely one of our best players. Brown has also defended decently when he has played this season. Everything I've seen would also indicate that those 4 are all players who give 100% effort every time they play and that Hird and Jason Taylor, in particular, are good leaders which we seem to lack when they aren't playing.
