I think a proven manager is essential ...
proven in terms of knowledge of, and contacts within, the English game and the players available at this level ; hopefully someone who has achieved some success in the past ; someone known for adopting a 'footballing style' ? - and someone who is not just looking for 'another payday income source' ...but who also has ideas, enthusiasm and the ability to motivate and bring out the best from the squad we assemble.
This is cannot be underestimated. Years ago, Swindon appointed Maurice Malpas as manager. He was a disaster. Whatever his skills as a manager were, he had no knowledge of English football, particularly the bottom two divisions, and probably no contacts within it either. You (and we) need a manager who knows his way around the division, who knows what players are around, especially since most L1 and L2 teams probably cut half their squad every year. And contacts are useful for being able to take someone on loan or knowing that a bigger club has cut a promising youngster who could do a job at a lower level.

for a start let's drop this myth about the Evatt way in the end teams were just sitting back and had sussed us out!
all I want is a manager who will make us tough to beat competitive and have a decent attacking strategy, but above all Experience and if possible stability which is what the club needs.
I'm sure as long as us as fans support him and give him a fair chance, ( I stand on the popular side and some of the criticism shouted is sometimes embarrassing ).
we stand together as one and I'm sure with "our" board we'll be ok !

What? A myth that under Evatt we played the best football Ive ever seen in 35 years of watching Barrow? Lets be honest here, we are unrecognisable from that side. 12 short months and two poor management appointments and we ended up playing survival football. Its has to be better.
The Manager must ooze confidence and back his team all the way. None of this “big step up for some of these players, we’ll see what we can do, give it a go” mentality that was from Dunn almost from his first interview. Im not particularly looking for track records because many of these managers will do well at one club and not so good at the next, so its being a good fit for Barrow and where we are on our development. Absolutely crucial that the next manager does not think staying up is good enough and rips up this terribly negative mindset that holds us back. And if he can get us playing more pleasing football then all the better.
Spot on.

Sounds a good shout based on his spell at Colchester.

McGreal is Birkenhead- born and being linked with a return to Tranmere. If it was between us and them afraid it would be no contest.

If we can get a "proven" manager in and he knows what players he needs then sooner the better when you see just how many players have been released in the leagues so far, there are some good players on a free.

This Jolley lad sounds worth a shout. Can't be any worse than that other Jolley lad we had last season.

Maybe the first one was an interloper and this kid is the *real* Michael Jolley. Think we need to get Scott Quigley's view on a possible impending return of his mate

Whoever we get has to carry on building on the team spirit which Rob Kelly helped to cultivate, know when to substitute at critical points in the game and have the ability with a few player additions to turn Barrow into a potent attacking side.Like everyone has already said, somebody with proven league 1 or 2 experience, but also someone who the players want to play for, because that alone can make a massive difference to what happens on the pitch. We need somebody who also knows how to improve the performances of the players the club decides to retain.

Highly unlikely unless 'Pools miss promotion and he is desperate after Fyldes' failure to meet their 2022 target.
