Papa John’s Trophy v Leicester City U-21
Re: Papa John’s Trophy v Leicester City U-21
Well we cant progresss in the comp so it’s all about getting game time into players who are coming back from injury and who haven’t featured much recently. As Nick says- the prize £10k prize money is not to be sniffed at.

I am looking forward to seeing Mike Joones again. What we saw early last season suggested he had class. However, I fear that his age, plus the long lay off, may mean that he will never be a regular starter again.mickmike wilson wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 1:35 pm I’d give Platty & Zanzala 30 mins each to help sharpen up & hope Mike Jones gets some mins after his longgggg absence![]()

The Villa side contained a number of their championship-winning U-21s but was far from a U-21 side.

Going off the other results they aren’t that good and have conceded 9 goals already. Might be a good chance for our attackers to boost their confidence in front of goal again ready for the weekend

Villa was not an U21 side they played several players who are first team regulars.

I was there too at the Holker St end and bottles were also thrown into the crowdJim wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 12:26 pmNot a fine night for some Leicester fans, though. I was behind the goals at the Holker Street end and, if memory is correct, some visiting fans tore off a drainpipe and threw it at Barrow fans nearby.MisterPleasant wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 12:20 pm We've Met Before...
and what a fine game it was. (he said with a nostalgic sigh)

You are correct but most of them were under 23 years of age. Not an U-23 team as such but not far off it.mickycarrol wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 5:42 pm

No they weren't. Only 3 players that started for Villa were under 23 years of age.bluebirds35 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 6:06 pmYou are correct but most of them were under 23 years of age. Not an U-23 team as such but not far off it.mickycarrol wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 5:42 pm
