And yet you ask if there are plans to redevelop Holker Street? I certainly hope so.

You mention history and so many stories to tell. Yeah; loads. Here's one:

Watching Barrow v Wrexham in the old Floodlit League - early 70s. The Floodlit League was comprised of teams utilising what is now known as 'fringe team players' or reserves playing midweek evening games.

Four of us stood on the The Holker End feezing our boll*cks off whilst an icy wind, curtesy of the Irish Sea, rips through our bones. Passing a paper cup of steaming hot Bovril from one to another just so we could warm our hands round the cup (our pocket money wouldn't stretch to buying four Bovrils)

The original roof was still in place on that evening but none of the 15/20 brave souls stood on the crumbling terrace would have vouched for its ability to ward off the elements, I can assure you.

History and nostalgia - don't ya just love it! Crumbling stadiums?

I finished writing about Barrow many months ago and thought I had that section complete until I began writing about Bradford City. During my research on Valley Parade, I came across the below piece of information that had escaped my original research on Holker Street;

I still keep an eye out on Barrow and I am pleased that they are (at least) in the promotion running for the Play-Offs but I hope that they'll be in the top three come May. Fingers crossed.

It was left to rot in what is now the fanzone - never to be assembled and eventually scrapped if I believe rightly
