Yes, fair comment. But it was immensely frustrating and weird to watch. I can only conclude that we don't want to go up, which would be fair as I'm not sure promotion would be good for us at this stage. But if the chance is there you go for it surely, and we didn't today.

No question we have surpassed expectations but we are where we are, safe and nothing loose.Methuselah wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 5:24 pm Not so long ago this is a game we would have lost.We are still missing that clinical finish up front, but that is something that can be worked on next season by finding the right player. We have punched miles above our weight this season which is great when all the pundits had it nailed on to be relegated.Pete Wild and the team have done a fantastic job to turn this club around after two disappointing seasons.
Next season can we have this same opportunity? Time will tell but we should be striking whilst the iron is hot..
It's our lack of scoring which has been out Achilles heel but that's this season and any grand desires about next season in reality are a million miles away from where we are now.
That might not make sense right now but trust me, opportunity doesn't strike twice!
I like pw and think he and the team has done amazing but I genuinely feel, whilst that door is or was open, we should have and should throw caution to the wind and gone for the jugular!
Still in with a sniff and that will do for me..

This...totally agree.Kieran wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 5:33 pmYes, fair comment. But it was immensely frustrating and weird to watch. Forget about worrying if we are ready or not, that's something to worry about if we did or didn't make it.. would rather be in the mix than not. If that makes sense??

Re: Swindon Town v Barrow: Match thread
I understand everyone’s frustration that we didn’t throw the kitchen sink at it today, but as PW said in his interview, let’s keep doing what has got us where we are. I wouldn’t want us to lose the last 4 matches and end the season badly, maybe setting up a poor start to next season. Funny, isn’t it, only drawing against Swindon and being disappointed. If someone had told me that when we lost 4-0 at Alfreton and got relegated to NLN about 10 years ago, I wouldn’t have believed it! Keep the faith.
Re: Swindon Town v Barrow: Match thread
Nobody is disappointed at getting a point at Swindon, in itself that is a decent result. The pont is, we had a chance to go 2 points behind the play off places with 4 games left and we couldn't have looked less interested in doing so.Bakewell Blue wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 5:59 pm I understand everyone’s frustration that we didn’t throw the kitchen sink at it today, but as PW said in his interview, let’s keep doing what has got us where we are. We can harp on about getting stuffed by Alfreton, Ganisborough and Guiseley if we want. Couldn't be less relevant when we're now a League 2 football club though

Game was played at pre-season friendly pace. Neither side did enough IMO to deserve 3 points. Any point on the road is a good point. We only have a small squad now As Pete Wild has eluded to everyone is going to get some game time be it today, Tuesday or Saturday. We might not make the playoffs but we will have a say In promotion and relegation with the opposition we have left to play. Personally I’d love to deny Steve Evans automatic promotion in the final game.

I'm with kieron, the point is we have nothing to loose but in the same breath everything to gain.Bakewell Blue wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 6:08 pmKieran wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 6:06 pm

We are in a position to go above and beyond and we have (by what's said) settled for the draw!
We can all harp on about next season but we are here now and we have had our best opportunity certainly on my lifetime to be able to Scrawl "barrow rule the 3rd" on that wall again!
And if what is being said is right, yes I totally agree with kieron, we should have gone for it and despite our little ol' barrow, shown the world we are actually a tough bunch to crack!
So yeh, could we have done better??

Pete Wild has got us here trusting “the process” and I agree. With a team that all the pundits at the start of the year said we would be dead and buried “the process” has worked miracles.
We are a work in progress doing it the way he believes and I for one think that to be even having this kind of discussion in the middle of April is unreal.

We had a point to loose? I’m sure you’d on be on here moaning if we got beat 1 0 after getting caught on the breaking going for it. Any point on the road is a good point.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 5:14 pmWasn't there and watching words on BBC live text doesn't quite cut it but.. yes, we have NOTHING to loose and why not go for it? That's what I was saying in another thread, we seem to carry that negative outlook when in reality, we have an opportunity and we should throw everything including the kitchen sink..Kieran wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 5:02 pm Absolutely bizarre last 20 mins from us. Results going our way and 3 points gives us something to play for in the rest of the season, and we're slowing the game down and bring Warren on for Newby. What the [SwearFilter]? Completely ridiculous and unforgivable ending to that game. Really weird stuff.
Anyway, grim sby next so let's hope for the 3 PTS and then bring on the shit house from up norf

Re: Swindon Town v Barrow: Match thread
I agree with Kieran as do some supporters on the Swindon forum. If the roles had been reversed I don’t think Swindon would have settled for a point.
Don’t get me wrong a draw away from home is great but at this stage of the season with nothing to lose we should have gone for all three.
We’ve had a great season and it won’t change if we finish 8th 9th or 10th but with nothing to lose we should have thrown caution to the wind and had a last desperate throw of the dice trying to secure a top seven spot.

I think you’ll find that 99% of us Believe in Pete & the process but that’s not inclusive about todays game & im in the same viewpoint as the lads here in that we have nothing to lose but everything to gain today & we didn’t rise the the occasion….Still happy enough with this season of course we all are.Louis29 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 7:03 pmNah!!!!!!olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 6:43 pm

First of all there is loose and lose
How about us fans getting to watch our team in the play offs? I agree promotion maybe a step too far at tge moment
