In recent times Zanzala, Holt, Harrison and Baker- Richardson and Ellis must of been a big financial burden on our resources.
But I would think the failure with managers Ian Evatt aside that has hit us the hardest. Let’s hope we get some longevity and stability out of Pete Wild but ultimately if our stock grows so does his but that can only be real positives going forward.

who was that big money centre forward signing in our Conference North days that also never worked out ?
It must be hard enough finding the wages for the current staff let alone having to fork out for those that have left.
Ant Wilson?

I think when we went through the time that we had a few managers in a short time, some left with a lump sum, whilst others continued to be paid each month but they were tied to Barrow. Eventually they got itchy feet or someone came in for them at which time we came to a mutual agreement about terminating their contract.

14 managers since daz and Dave’s split in 2012. We’ve had some ups and downs but look where we’ve ended up. Fair play to everyone involved, the boards always dealt with whatever situation has happened and barrows came out on top
We’ve had some absolutely honking players but name any club ever that hasn’t.

Johnny Gorman. Honestly thought he’d be decent signing at that level, but it just never clicked. Dan Parkinson is another player that randomly came to mind. Appears to have just vanished entirely after leaving us.

The midfielder who came here from Oldham (I think) about five years ago when Paul Casson was the owner. Big things were expected of him but he was pretty useless.
I can actually see his face but can’t remember his name…

David Mellor you could add Ashley Grimes also.

Ha, Ashley Grimes was the one a former member of this forum was adamant was so good that he was always two steps ahead of his teammate - “A Ferrari on a go kart track” or something like that. In reality he was just terrible.
Benjamin Van Den Broek was a full international, but was also hopeless - pretty sure we paid his contract up early to get rid.

I recall Michael Gough turning up on at least one occasion to play for us from Goole I seem to remember though I don’t think he was under contract.
Has since become Englands greatest living test umpire. Perhaps we sensed his potential.

The waste of talent that was Billy Kenny. Man of the match in the first ever Merseyside derby in the Premier League and less than two years later slumming it with us for a couple of games before quitting the game altogether. Always reminds me of being on a train journey sat accross from some scousers. One was reading the morning paper and said " I see Everton are selling Speed" to which his mate swiftly replied " I bet Billy Kenny will be first in the queue"

That forward we signed from the village team near Hull, during the Cox reign, I think. There was a proven goalscorer who proved he couldn't.

Ha…..both of them Mark! I think the pair of them appeared about the same time - and were equally as disappointing.
