We stay over the night before now - it’s just the training in barrow the night before which has stoppedolbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Sat Dec 13, 2025 11:04 amAnd under PW the record was better than where we are now so is that an indicator that being here the night before is beneficial?
I used to have to travel to the lakes to meet my team, then from there would travel to various parts of Cumbria, sometimes was 2hrs in a car and I can tell you, it was awful and took about 45 mins just to get the body and legs moving..and back then I really was a fit lad but the travel definitely has an impact.
When I played locally, travel wasn't an issue, maybe 15 mins in a car and it doesn't affect quite the same.
So maybe there is merit in staying here the night before.

Re: Training at Holker St
Can we be clear on we currently do.
We train at the training ground on Friday morning and then some travel straight to barrow to community work, some go home and then meet in barrow Friday evening. They have breakfast together, id guess a video session and then go to the ground.
I’d say when the conditions are horrible, there would be benefit from training in the conditions the day before. But we are going to train on the pitch when it’s wet or the game will be off and we don’t have a location apart from going randomly around amateur clubs.
The other issue with training in the morning is in barrow, you’ve got 80% of the team sat in a hotel all afternoon. That then feels more like an away game where they are sat on a coach.
I know 1% makes a difference, but we are over analysing something that would take us from what has been said to be a good location where players get fed, downtime and room for individual chats can happen. To going down hawcoat park.
