Stanway and his family got told to avoid the ground today that’s a fact as the club expected trouble!

+1

He had a good kick on him too.

Only 22, a lot of potential.

You build a football team from the back. That’s why the goalkeeper position is the most IMPORTANT position on the field.

We need to pay out for a solid experienced goalkeeper next season.

Then it’s about building the defence to protect him, followed by midfield and then the attack.

We’ve had solid keepers and defences in the past. That’s what we need to get back to. Clean sheets. Then you earn at least a point at 0-0, or win the game and earn all 3.

We can’t suffer another season of endless goalkeeping errors and a defence not even doing the basics right.

Im pretty sure Adam mentioned Stanway being around the players at the tunnel after the game on Radio Cumbria.

Killian is the best passer of the ball, thus suits a sweeper-keeper role in an attacking system.

Stanway was there in the pre-match warm-up.

Yes he came out for the tunnel after the game to front it up and fair play. But the statement I said is true.

No coincidence the club did no social media posts after Cambridge but then did a “love the football protect the game” posts a couple of days before today’s game

Foley decided that he wanted to give Barrett a debut given he may not get the opportunity to again and is 100% here next season, nothing more too it, stanway wasn’t injured as he did the full warmup and was there at the end

Who told them to avoid the ground?

Both he and the family were certainly there pre match! He warmed Barrett up!

I think Wyll was pulled in order to avoid the torrents of abuse promised by many on social media. Standing in the Holker End for 45 mins of abuse would be a massive distraction for a young local lad who has been known to react to the odd comment previously. If anyone needs a break and a reset it is Wyll – he has great promise but crapped out somehow and will now be at something of a crossroad in his career. Good luck to the lad.

He might be advised to stop reading social media and this forum.

Obvious his confidence has gone, which is a shame 'coz he's made some great saves, and remember, we thought he might attract interest from other clubs in the January window, and nobody wanted to see him go.

Keep doing what you do well Wyll.

Part and parcel of the game I’m afraid and if he can’t hack it then maybe professional football isn’t for him. His head went months ago and he’s been throwing goals in, shouldve been dropped ages ago for me for his own and the teams sake.
That being said he’s not the reason we’ve gone down there’s a multitude of other things that went wrong.

The season is a right off.. let's not single out one player, especially when there are ten in front of him who deserve more criticism than he does.
Although this particular thread is about keepers, I don't think anybody is singling him out alone at all. Not sure where you get that from. 90% of the players on the pitch this season have been disgraceful. You can't deny though, Stanway has been guilty of some howlers that were his and his alone.
You only have to read through the match threads to see how much is directed at stanway but like you say, it's the team in front of him which has made him look worse than he is.. he's made some incredible saves and stopped complete goal riots..and I did like it when he was rallying the troops against Oldham was it? Although the passion and energy only ever popped up now and then :?

Stanway is learning his trade but the men infront of him are experienced.
What is apparent is the lack of communication hence so many bad back passes.

Allowing Dino to get rid of Luke Daniel’s didn’t help the goalkeeping group. He was the one constant during Stanway time here and was instrumental in bringing in Winterbottom. Yes Stanway suffered a drop in confidence following his concussion injury but changing the keeper coach wasn’t the right move imo
