Have to say that, in my mind, Barrow's first goal has to go down as an own goal; it wouldn't have gone in had Breedon not - rather unfortunately for him - got his body in the way of the ball.

Our second, I'm not sure crossed the line; maybe the officials thought that it made up for a first half attempt that the home 'keeper was adjudged to have blocked on the line? Sixties goal-line technology (a Russian linesman) at its best?

Yep definitely an own goal for the first , and the ball did cross the line for the second (well done to the linesman for that as it was cleared straight away and most officials at this level would have played on)

Sang that in Nando's in Bury St Edmunds tonight when I met the missus. Got a few strange looks.

As others have said it was a really strange game but I don't think we are giving Solihull enough credit as they seemed much better than their league position suggests and we also probably made it hard for ourselves at times. Most of their side were huge, the grass on the pitch was quite long and they really got at us.

Previously Edmo said that as Chorley and Solihull were teams with big players he'd prefer Cowps Jnr to Burns but on today's showing I think Cowps should've been left-back and Burns right back? For their 3rd goal McMillan came out to catch a cross and got nowhere near it as it sailed over and past him and they scored from it. On occasions today the defence were also let down by the midfield not being strong enough in winning the 2nd ball and the back 4 and keeper did have a fair bit to contend with but could/should have done much better than they did. Having said that I thought ARH had another good game and even won the ball on occasions in the 2nd half and going forward we again looked dangerous. Would like to see a replay of the shot the keeper saved in the first half that he seemed to scoop out from behind the line.

The first goal for us has to be credited as an og to the keeper as opposed to Walker, with the ball hitting the post, rolling across the line, hitting the keeper on the back of the head and then going in. Cook got a deserved second that was just over the line but it was absolutely hilarious the 3rd goal with their no.6 trying to clear the ball and knocking it over his own keeper into the bottom corner. Ellison's goal must have been from about 25 yards out.

For Boyliegladbach the gnome wasn't there but I was - perhaps the gnome was bad luck??? This was a great day with friendly home fans, the admission price of just £9 topped off with beer at less than £3 a pint and us going top of the league.

Yes it's bad luck. Lost One drew one with stolen gnome in attendance, won one where its not there.

Cowps did well in midfield for the 70mins he played there this season, rather have him in there than Crowther on what I've seen so far. The left back position does need sorting though and as mentioned Burns would be first choice right back. Grand and Livesy looked very solid against Chorley and haven't turned into bad players over night. McMillan is only a small keeper which probably doesn't help against big sides with crosses raining in

Echo most of the above but with Grand and Livesey in our side I do think we are entitled to a better goals against column than at present. They with McMillan had a torrid time today, they were a massive side and won a lot of knockdowns etc.

Going forward we were very decent in spells and Ellison's shot was a screamer.

Funny place, wish we'd stayed under the covered end second half because it was hard work in the uncovered terrace trying to generate any noise with only a few of us. The food was very good, although on the day I overcompensated for forgetting to eat at Harrogate and ate far far too much.

Yes, I agree, I'd like to see SOG have a run in midfield (though in place of who is an interesting debate for another day). I like young Cowps, he seems a very accomplished footballer, and although he can defend I would like to see him have more scope for showing his creative side because from all I've seen of him (both last season and this) he's got the vision to play good passes and he's also capable of sticking chances away. All in all he's a massively useful asset to have in our squad and whilst he can do a job in either a defensive or offensive capacity I would like to see him playing in a position where the attacking and creative side of his game has more chance to come to the fore.

I think I would start with Cook and Walker at the moment. I think all four of our forwards are likely to get plenty of game time this season whether it be starting or coming off the bench. Very impressed with Ellison though and I think he can also provide cover out wide which provides him another route to game time.

Cowps in central midfield is probably not a bad shout.

Wonder if its better to start McWilliams or bring him on later on due to his long lay off/injury.

I think these two games coming up will be ideal to ease him back in. Perhaps give him 30 minutes or so against Worcester then start him against Leam?
