Itll be discussed on saturday as it should be with it mattering to alot of members, but can also be raised again at the agm if desired by any member.

There's a steering group meeting on Saturday where some of the things mentioned will hopefully be discussed as well as feedback from the travel meeting. If you or anyone else wants to come along, even if its just for the travel discussions then feel free.
Ste, I am hopefully available Saturday! What time are the steering group meeting at and where will the meeting be held as I would like to sit in as an observer if I can make it!

Right, at the risk of going off piste, surely the simplest thing is for any interested parties to come to the Trust Meeting, which is at Barrow Golf Club at, I think, 12. Then a time limited discussion of say..half an hour on travel, as a lot of the points have been made frankly. Stu, I think and hope, will have spoken to Clarksons by then also. I have to be at another thing for 1ish.

My own personal opinion is the following:

Travel Membership as an extra isn't the way to go as one of the whole points of the ISC going in with the trust for me was get more people encouraged to games (which did actually happen and although I do take Als points we still took numbers) You don't need a buffer.

I think a more sensible solution is (and should be) in the hands of those who go more often and those who have always sorted it. Think about what was viable and what wasn't previously. For example- 25 to Lincoln- viable at a loss. 20 not viable and we think of something else, twas eve thus. Fares even if we stay with Clarksons will likely be a bit higher but you still put the question about who's going things don't change. Every year the buses have made a bit so there is no need to overcomplicate things- we should be putting our energies into getting more on the buses and having ideas about that!

Anybody going to put the "travel membership" proposal detail on here? So it can be understood?
A straightforward pricing for Trust member // non trust member- as per last season. What could be simpler / fairer?
The whole challenge is getting more to travel and hopefully by offering a small discount as a Trust member will encourage more to join the Trust. That's it surely?

Do I sense some don't wish travel to be part of the Trust or is that not the case?

It needs to be determined whether or not the Trust Travel will have an extra membership fee so that regular travellers can get a discount(or better discount) and also the money raised from the Membership can subsidise some of the buses that wouldn't run if there was no membership fee/money as happened previously with the ISC (they charged £10 for membership which was effectively just for cheaper bus travel and subsidising of some loss making buses).

The cost of a lot of the buses will be more expensive now so its possible there will most likely be more buses that can't run if the popular northern trips aren't making as much and there is no Travel Membership money to subsidise the longer, costly Southern trips so the first proposal needs to be are we having an extra membership fee and if yes how much will it be?

I'll pop along on Saturday.
FWIW how the team do next season will be the main factor to determine how many travel, as I can't see too many extra paying £40 to sit on a bus to/from Braintree for 12-13 hours leaving at 6am and not returning till midnight if the team aren't playing well, no matter what incentives are offered.

The small discount is in being a trust member. Join the trust, get a travel discount. (We are talking one or two quid here). Simple and clear. Costs could be driven down through trust travel fundraising events over the season.
If trust members vote for an additional travel membership then that message is clear but seen nothing written on this thread that tells me its value and its no more than another pricing tier to manage.

I honestly don't see a separate travel membership making any sort of significant difference. It would raise maybe £200, £300 at most. That would be wiped out subsidising one game in Conference National. What has historically proven to be more useful in subsidising loss making journeys has been the money made on the more popular and often shorter trips.
