We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

If they didn't have public liability insurance then they shouldn't have been operating. Simple as that.Nigel Bamford wrote:They might have had vehicle insurance but what if they didn't have public liability insurance

Barrow Police have now made a sixth arrest in connection to the attack on the min-bus, no idea the age of the latest miscreant to be arrested.

I remember seeing Ruins outside Chequers on what I am guessing was the same night as he did stink of [SwearFilter] at the time.spirit of 1990 wrote:I changed that to what you really meant there Daz....ruins wrote:If anything the bus company could have milked a bit more on insurance. I've heard he's 54, has a handle bar mustache and lives in the marsh Street area! but to be fair, I've seen him throw a stick for my aunties dog in barrow park and it was pitiful so I recron he'll get off with it!Ralph wrote:Barrow Police have now made a sixth arrest in connection to the attack on the min-bus, no idea the age of the latest miscreant to be arrested.

Bloody hell he lives near me, wonder if I know him. And he's the same age as me. Strange that

I doubt it, that story is from march and has nothing to do with Barrow rugby.olbarrafancumbak wrote:wonder if people will stop taking kids an family to the rugby now?

I think long and hard before criticising any fellow poster; we are all entitled to our opinion.
That said, I really can't see how this has got any relevance to Barrow AFC in any way whatsoever, and it is utterly pointless.

Re: Trouble after the game
Perhaps to remove any bad publicity the club is receiving, could have a whip round on saturday to pay for the broken windows. I know the insurance will pay, but makes the club look good, prevents the company from having anything on us. If there is anything left send a card and gift card to those injured via york City. No harm in getting good publicity out of bad even if it isn't the fault of genuine Barrow fans.

Any money left over could be put towards the cost of castrating the scrotes responsible. I doubt that our criminal justice system will deal out an adequate punishment.mightywhite wrote:Perhaps to remove any bad publicity the club is receiving, could have a whip round on saturday to pay for the broken window.

Re: Trouble after the game
On the subject of those arrested we don't know what they've all actually done so I wouldn't make too many judgements just yet. It wouldn't be the first time that police have got a load of people in making it sound worse than it actually is to make themselves look good, when in fact some of those arrested may have done very little and not even been charged or be guilty of lesser offences.
Having said that those that did throw stuff at the buses and caused the injuries deffo need decent punishment and the publicity this has generated might mean that those who are guilty of the more serious charges will be more severely punished. As 4 of those arrested are under 18 they won't be treated as adults so may not get the sentences they deserve but I'd be pretty certain they all knew what they were doing.

Point I was making was that people had a massive knee jerk reaction after this with many folk saying that things don't happen like this at the rugby and or typical football..Hitthebar22 wrote:olbarrafancumbak wrote:wonder if people will stop taking kids an family to the rugby now?

Re: Trouble after the game
Things Do and HAVE happened at the Rugby for many years.
I used to follow BRLFC as well as Barrow AFC and I was on a coach that traveled to Keighley for a RL Challenge Cup game back in the late 70s/early 80s. I can't remember the exact season. After the game we boarded the coach to discover that many windows had been smashed. Unfortunately, for me and my pal, one of the broken windows was adjacent to our seats. The game was played in the middle of Winter and it was snowing in Yorkshire at the time. We were frozen to the bone when we finally arrived home!
Another occasion was a Cup Semi-Final against Hull, played at Headingley in Leeds. Prior to the game Barrow fans robbed an Off-License near the ground and were distributing alcohol to anyone who would accept it. There was fighting on the terraces towards the end of the game and Barrow - who were well outnumbered by Hull - gave as good as they got. The game resulted in a win for Barrow. After the game we all boarded a bus heading for the Rail Station and had to put up with hundreds of Hull idiots rocking the bus, which nearly resulted in the vehicle being turned over. If that wasn't enough, we then had to put up with Leeds and Man City fans battling outside the Rail Station - flares were being hurled and police horses were charging people to the ground.
I also remember visiting Wigan's old Central Park ground to watch Barrow play Warrington in a Cup Final. At the end of the game - which Barrow narrowly lost - Warrington fans invaded the pitch and attacked the terrace where the Barrow fans were standing. It didn't take us long to realise that Warrington were well 'Tooled Up' some of them carrying blades. Everyone lept over the wall and ran with Warrington chasing...
Barrow fans re-grouped and stood their ground with fights breaking out all along the road that led to Wigan Rail Station.
A lot of it is hidden by the Media, who like to tarnish Football Fans.
I stopped following Barrow Rugby after the game was 'Americanised' so I can't comment on any events that may have taken place whilst Barrow Rugby have been known as the 'Braves' or the 'Raiders' but I witnessed many violent incidents whilst following them in the late 70s/early 80s.
So...no; it doesn't just happen at the Football.
