Whatever happens I've got a feeling (perhaps being naive) that the community will come together and people will get right behind Ian Evatt and the boys if they feel we have been wronged .we have to make sure that after these bleak times that we remain as one and We'll create that perfect storm again ! :scarf:

I don't think it made the print editions with the reduced coverage of (no) sport, so online only.

I must admit if null and void I'm not sure I could carry on investing time, money and all my emotions into the football again.. Id probably still go to support the club and help to keep it going

Good read that

I can't imagine any circumstances that would stop me supporting Barrow. This is an extraordinary situation. If we are denied promotion it will be a bitter pill to swallow, but it won't change my feelings for the club or my excitement at listening or watching Barrow play.

I would bet that, after all this is over, the FA and/or the leagues will amend their rules to cater for a situation where a season is curtailed for any reason. Someone mentioned the Duckworth Lewis formula in cricket; there are also rules in Superbikes that if a race has to be stopped before some number of laps, it is restarted, but after so many laps the result stands. Nobody complains that 'Whats his names' tyres were degrading and if it had continued someone else would have overtaken him. It is the rules and it's just how the cookie crumbles.

I don't think folk really meant they wouldnt support them. There's just the huge amount of time, money and love invested. Anyway, not important in current climatee

Kind of feel the same.
Would take some time to get over, fans would be understandably very quick to lose faith in anything over the next few seasons.

I know people will say stay positive etc etc but think the main thing for me is we won’t get such an excellent chance again. Other teams will be a lot stronger next season, Platt and White gone, other players may move on etc etc. Very unlikely to get a perfect storm two years in a row......

Had a thought over the weekend that this enforced 'break' might be the ideal time for the re-structuring of the lower echelons of the EFL. Scrap this season,or whatever wording you want to put to it, then amalgamate L2 and the NL into League 2 North and South. Many pros and cons but just another way out of the mire.
Another thing put forward by an Alty director on Talksport with regard to finances. As Premiership clubs will invariably have to scrap their Worldwide pre-season tours they should instead send strong sides to the smaller clubs including non-league for sell-out games allowing the hosts to keep all the takings.

This used to be a great thing pre season with half decent "big clubs" doing the pre.season rounds.. shame money and supposed global supremacy put this to bed..

I dont care what anyone says, promotion is an absolute must for us and thoroughly deserved on and off the pitch! Every single manager has basically said its barrows year and we have been the best. I really would find it difficult to even remotely enjoy football if we dont get back up! I really cant see IE wanting another season down here after the hard work he and the team has put in. Only way I can see him.stay is if we go up together.
I hate liverpool but jeezus they absolutely deserve the title this year too...

If the government are talking about a period of six months now, it seems to me that this season will be continued in September with the new season (20/21) following on thereafter. All being well (literally).
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

If void I would not want to go away watching them would be reluctant to give clubs like Notts county my money, better spent somehow at Holker Street.

Whilst I think you're right about the nature of the opposition this season, lets not underplay the development factor in the club. There has been an underlying strength and positivity at HS both on the field and off it since IE was appointed and the new board took over. Assuming that we can get through this horribly unprecedented time and irrespective of what happens to the season, preserving this "force" will be of paramount importance whatever division we're in when all of this subsides.

The thing that has attracted many people back to HS has been the complete approach of the club exemplified by the way we play. As someone that has dreamt of the return of League football for his club through his youth, adulthood and middle age, it pains me to admit that the potential loss of that goal is not as painful as the possible loss of our belief and style in the way we currently approach the game.

If the choice were to get promoted and play our next season as a badly damaged financially incapable EFL team or alternatively play in what will probably have to be a reconstructed NL with the same conviction, style and (in the main lets not forget) squad, then reluctantly I'd accept the latter. But it wouldn't destroy my spirit.

The idea of a "perfect storm" season implies that were it not for those conditions we wouldn't be where we are and this is some "once in a lifetime" offer, which actually suggests that really we are not that good, that chance is at the heart of our success. If this were true it would not bode well for a season in the EFL as it would automatically categorise us alongside the Morecambes of this world. After the euphoria of being back in the EFL had subsided, the idea of a continual fight against relegation and bankruptcy each season would not fill me with any great anticipation. So promotion at all costs doesn't really do it for me surprisingly despite my life long obsession with it.

Whilst luck always plays a part in any teams success it has nothing to do with what has essentially underpinned our success which has actually been the product of a process of improvement and development. That is what makes us different and this process is continuous. That is our USP (Unique Selling Point), the thing that attracts us to others. After spending so many years finding it, that is the one thing we must not lose.

I think this Suffolks Blue comment is key. I've supported this team since the earlyish 1960's and it won't stop now. Although I've never lived in Barrow (but my mum & dad were born there) the anticipation of driving up the M6 to see a game never goes away - I'm still that little boy of all those years ago. Like many others I will be sickened if we don't get the nod to go up BUT the financial implications in the EFL will be a worry in the present situation. Having said that I do remember talk way back in 1966 the year before promotion that we were not financial prepared to get promoted to the then Division 3. However, when we did go up in the next season and that did not seem to be an issue - it was the appointment of Norman Bodell that did for us sadly. So if we are offered or do go up under our own steam then we must take the opportunity. But if we find ourselves in the NL I will still be going and supporting whatever team we put out. Sure other teams will get stronger next year but we must try and keep our style of play and hopefully our manager next year.
