Regarding the fanzone and “stray shots” problem that several supporters have brought up, I’ve added an update on this to the GMA thread.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Absolutely nothing hilarious about people being financially squeezed this time of year which was the main point of my post. You certainly have had a dig at non-attendees and then cower behind 'others' who've posted earlier. Others who definitely do not claim to be a 'supporters representative'. You could always (possibly) have a bit of a think before posting.mickmike wilson wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 1:47 pmThis is Hilariousmulholland wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 12:36 am
If you're not actually there in person yourself don't have a sly dig at those who maybe have got other financial priorities this time of year. You're supposedly a supporters representative aren't yeh?![]()
Show me where I’ve had a sly dig, Others earlier on this thread have said things like “Poor Attendance” & suchlike you say nowt, When I say “Only 2500 home fans” which is a fact, You try to slate me
I even said “What a time to be a Barrow fan” Yet somehow in your warped mind I’m slagging folk or the club off, ( Hard to tell what your beef is )

I would agree with your assessment about the Ipswich result not being as great an achievement as some other FA cup matches Russell.russell_anderson wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 4:46 pmI'm not down sizing the achievement, merely being realistic. While beating any Ipswich team is a good result and winning at Barnsley would be an even better result, you surely can't be seriously saying that to win at a Barnsley (which other than the huge points deduction for Derby would be 6 points below any other team in the Championship) would be the biggest achievement in our cup history?Jonty wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 1:37 pm Russell you are determined to down size the achievement of this result. Regardless of how poor Ipswich were, when you match up side by side the two clubs’ standing in the game since year dot this has to be the biggest cup scalp in our history. Such is the depth of their first team, they were able to make the changes from the Wigan game. Every player on the pitch is listed as an Ipswich Town first team squad member. Not reserves. If we beat Barnsley and get to round 4 that will be the biggest achievement in our cup history.
It would certainly be a good result to win at any Championship team but not even near the achievement of our 1966-67 team which drew at home to a top league side in Southampton and 1967-68 which had a narrow loss against a top league side in Leicester, both these teams with several international players and at a time when the FA Cup was on par with winning the top league in importance.
The Southampton home game was electric and a great performance, especially as Barrow probably deserved to win that match.
We played well in the replay at the Dell going in 0-0 at half time.
Only the hand of Ron Davies shortly after the interval put Southampton ahead and changed the course the hame as Barrow searched for an equaliser, which eventually resulted in a 3-0 defeat.
Replays on TV that night showed Davies had clearly put the ball in with his hand.
One game though that should not be forgotten was the 4-2 home defeat in 1959 against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Barrow played really well against a team that eventually went on to finish Champions on division 1 (the equivalent of the Premier league today).
Wolves finished 6 points clear of runners up Manchester United and 11 points ahead of 3rd placed side Arsenal.
That was when teams only got 2 points for a win.
Wolverhampton had half a dozen international players that day the most famous being their half back trio of Bill Slater, Billy Wright and Ron Flowers.

Yes, Salt Cellar - - - the same Ron Flowers who passed away just a couple of weeks ago, having been a member of the England 22 in the 1966 World Cup and who very nearly played in the Final on that famous day as Jack Charlton had been a doubt and Alf Ramsey had Flowers ready to deputise.saltcellar wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 12:39 pm Wolverhampton had half a dozen international players that day the most famous being their half back trio of Bill Slater, Billy Wright and Ron Flowers.
I thoroughly enjoyed the performance against Ipswich on Wednesday (but actually enjoyed the win over Swindon even more). Of course though, it's true we have had a good number of more memorable performances, arguably including the one away at Bristol Rovers just a few years ago. The Southampton match had an atmosphere that you can't do justice to with mere words, with more than 15,000 packed like sardines inside Holker Street and the tension unreal as we looked to be on the way to a 2-1 win until a mistake allowed them to sneak a draw. Back in 2009, though it's true that Middlesbrough were on top for most of the match, those last few minutes were so dramatic after Walker pulled a goal back and we applied a storming effort to try and salvage an equaliser.
But if we're talking victories rather than just honourable efforts then our 1-0 win against Crystal Palace in the League Cup in September 1967 surely ranks as our greatest ever victory. I do believe that's the highest ranking opponent we have ever beaten in a competitive match, with Palace being very near the top of the 2nd flight. We didn't just beat them though, we played so very, very well and thoroughly deserved it.

Give that pint a miss if you don't mind. Is Panto season suppose and your audition for Widow [SwearFilter]'s going well. You've criticised absent supporters. You've been asked to think before economically judging others. You're supposedly a supporters representative which does not bother me one bit as long as you realise it comes with responsibility however much or little that entails. Why you're wanting to obscure the initial very valid point is the only politicking going on here. Get over it.mickmike wilson wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 1:44 pmI was laughing at you & still am as you try your best to twist my comments in your warped views of things that aren’t there but doesn’t stop you trying to stir the pot does it & Stop with this Politician type replies completely twisting words to suit your main point & frankly it's difficult to work out what it is? & what’s this “Claim” I’ve made, Show me anywhere I’ve “claimed” this???mulholland wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 10:57 am

My guess is it is the same reason that scun-thorpe goes under swear filter.

Our Promotion kinda stole my thunder as we were working on creating a platform where any fans could pay a membership & receive a lot of content, behind the scenes, day in the life of xyz, live streaming of the match, various video content etc Then Covid hit then Promotion meant that the majority of what we intended to do has been covered by I-follow & new FL regs to follow.Burnage Bluebird wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 1:59 pmFirst time I have seen or heard of this role, what are main responsibilities and what have you done in this position so far.mickmike wilson wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 1:44 pm

The club carried on with the videos & higher social media content that you all enjoy today.
The aim is to reengage with Barrovians & Furness folk who live a few hours outside the area & all expats to enjoy all things BAFC & a fair few now follow the club on ifollow who wouldn’t have normally with the extra fan engagement & we sell Russ’s raffle & club merchandise to a much wider audience than previously but everything is still really in the embryo/hold stage as the club has all the league regs & covid regs hoops to jump through.
It’s on a Voluntary basis & peeps like double Dutch oven make all the unseen work feel worthwhile.

Yes. You're absolutely correct about the Wolves match and, in fact, Wolves were the highest rated side we've ever met as they were Champions of England and one of the best sides in Europe in the era we met them. I'd still have to go for the Southampton match, however as it was against one of our our best ever teams we more than matched them whereas against Wolves the elements had a great deal to do with the close result as our side was pretty poor. The pitch was an absolute disaster having only been made fit by having braziers lit all over for hours before. Funnily enough, I don't remember much of the Leicester match even though they were a better side than Southampton although I must have been there whereas the Southampton match is very clear in my mind.saltcellar wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 12:39 pmI would agree with your assessment about the Ipswich result not being as great an achievement as some other FA cup matches Russell.russell_anderson wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 4:46 pm I'm not down sizing the achievement, merely being realistic. Palace were a good side with an England international in John Byrne playing and we did play very well and definitely deserved to win.pjdaly wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 2:07 pmYes, Salt Cellar - - - the same Ron Flowers who passed away just a couple of weeks ago, having been a member of the England 22 in the 1966 World Cup and who very nearly played in the Final on that famous day as Jack Charlton had been a doubt and Alf Ramsey had Flowers ready to deputise.saltcellar wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 12:39 pm Wolverhampton had half a dozen international players that day the most famous being their half back trio of Bill Slater, Billy Wright and Ron Flowers.
