I don't get this travelling excuse that pops up on here at times. These lads are getting paid decent money. Driving 2 hours or so isn't a big issue in my opinion. I do it an awful lot for a lot less money. Yes they may have family and a club closer could suit but it's a poor excuse in my opinion. Everyone has different backgrounds I know but these people chose to be footballers and making a journey to work for whatever hundred or thousand of quid they get a week should not be a problem.

I agree Daz.
It isn't as though they are travelling to Barrow on a daily basis, not even a weekly one and when travelling to away games are driven by luxury coach to stay in an hotel overnight.
Contrast that with lads contracting and staying away from home and family.
Not a bad life really.

I'm not sure what you are saying it is being made an excuse for - not signing in the first place, not performing at a high enough standard each week?
I can see why it would affect decision making regarding the former but not the latter. If anyone were offered similar amounts of money in two different locations, then I would have thought travelling time to and from would be a major, not defining, factor in that decision making process: but I am not sure that is an excuse - rather a reason.

Sorry I didn't mean directly the players excuse just that often people post saying about travel being a problem (not aiming at anyone specific) I think I recall Clark masters the GK travelling the length of the country every week?

The travelling time to Barrow is a real non issue these days compared to what the roads were like like years ago.
The whole traveling time to Barrow bollox is exaggerated by radio Cumbria to disguise the fact that they are near the Scottish border and isolated from the rest of England-James Phillips (god knows whats happened to him) was the main protagonist of this utter crap.

Yes absolutely - the whole thing is perception and compounded by the A590 cul-de -sac thing and media. A little over 2 hours from Lpool / Manchester.

If it is hopefully we get 6 figures for him. He’s vital for our progression up the league

Bradford fans seem to think it’s either him or Daly that was on loan at Hartlepool; hopefully it’s the later

Probably wont make a difference whoever it is. Bradford's problem lies with Derek Adams. Bradford are not Morecambe. Their squad is already strong enough to stroll into the play-offs were they to play to their ability. But if somebody wants to significantly increase my salary and allow me to spend more time with family, then who wouldn't want that. Does it mean that Ollie Banks is the key that would allow Bradford to breeze into League 1? Er.......no.

Seems the rumours are it's between Banks and Charman from Darlo, the latter however tipped to join Rochdale from the Darlo end. I think it's likely Bradford have made an improved offer.

it was fairly obvious that one was going to happen as he couldn't force his way into the starting 11 - can see him getting loaned back out to an National League side or someone line Scun-thorpe....

When oh when is the board going to learn that we need to keep a side together if we want to progress

I am hoping the rumorus about Ollie Banks are just rumours. We could end up undoing all the good work that has finally given us a side that are starting to score goals.
