Re: Pre-season Friendlies
Spend a fair amount of time scanning other clubs sites to keep an eye on what’s going on. I can honestly say that to date we are one of the more active clubs in L2 when it comes to recruitment both on and off the field.
There is clearly no shortage of endeavour or effort at the club presently. With that effort comes investment. Compare this with Colchester for example who have not invested significantly in their squad and have been open about the fact that they spent to survive last season and won’t be doing so this season.
Whilst PW is used to working on tight budgets I think he is being given sufficient financial support to accommodate his needs. I’m sure that wouldn’t have been the case with Cooper but that’s why Wild is here now.

Plus loanees like Wakeling, Glennon and others whose names I've already forgotten.
Don't let the old man in.

Out of all of those, only about 4 were in the first team picture though, the rest were surplus to requirements. Nowt wrong with trimming the fat and having a smaller squad.

We're now waiting for the departure of Josh Gordon. Won't be long, hopefully?
I wonder when he's going to start scoring a few goals?

So he gives up chances to score goalsEtsjb wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 8:21 pm The first line of defence comes from the attackers and he was the best of the lot at closing down full backs and blocking the start of attacks forcing throw-ins deep in the oppos half. We all know a higher percentage of goals are scored when the ball is turned over in the defending thirds. He gives up chances to seize on those opportunities.

Just caught this post match review with Pete Wild after the Ashton game, ....yes it is only a second friendly but the language he is using and you can already get an insight into his management style and his assessment of the game. I am more impressed every time i hear him and I really do think we can kick on with this man at the wheel.

Okay
Typo* Gives us chances to win the ball back in defending third this increases our chance of scoring, rather than us defending in our own box increasing the chance of conceding. Come on, it’s not difficult to understand.
Re: Pre-season Friendlies
Watching the Pete Wild podcast he's looking essentially for a squad of 22 so cover for every position. Hopefully quality rather than quantitymickycarrol wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 10:53 pm We have the young Chelsea center half all season as well so 7, granted I imagine we ain’t paying much of his wage I hope.
