Then out of nothing waters pulls on back and it’s half time. After that it was all barrow, thought the formation was wrong to start with and we were just putting optimistic balls in behind for bennet who’s not the quickest. Fair play to wild tho got the subs and formation bang on second half. All three of our goals were well worked, big mention for waters on the third goal (I think) cheeky little flick into warren then a great cross into the box forcing the centre half to turn it in

Mansfield got completely lucky with their goals. Farman poppadom wrists for the first one and ray [SwearFilter] about with it giving the striker a one on one.
Poppadom wrists!?!

Is this the first game you’ve watched this season? Definitely got strong hands and has saved us many points this season just as he did last season with 16 clean sheets. Have a word. You’ve showed yourself up here pal.

Unduly harsh criticism, I feel. Yes at fault but definitely not poppadom wrists. We won the game, he probably knows he messed up, let’s move on, you’re only as good as your next game, don’t live on past performances…good or bad. PMA.

Fortunately there are some very poor teams with less points than us. Every point from now is massive. ( University of the Bleeding obvious I know). We do seem to be in free fall.

As an aside RIP Gianluca Vialli.
Spot on , these bunch of player's are just not the type to defend and battle!

Did you watch the game mush? Punched it into his own net goalkeepers side should have done way better. Free kick wasn’t even that strong. And yes that’s my 16th game this season I’ve watched/attended 👍

I did thanks on iFollow. I’m not saying he wasn’t at fault but come on, calling him poppadom wrists is a bit unjust isn’t it? Surely you can agree that no? He has been one of our best players over the last season and half.

In all seriousness, many thanks for your support for 16 games, if I was still living in Barrow I’d be at every home game and the odd away game too.

Paul Farman is a human being, a goalkeeper who like Hugo Lloris, David de Gea and tonight Alisson Becker is prone to making mistakes.
They are top international goalkeepers on mega Bucks but make howlers.
Mistakes by them inevitably lead to conceding a goal.
Mistakes by outfield ones don't always, so not highlighted the same.

Well said it looked like we should be in for a thrashing but predicted a 2-1 win.
Think PW set up to stop them playing with idea to introduce the forwards second half and hopefully pinch it late on.
Tactics backfired with two early goals but the goal before half time gave us the edge and we went on to win.
No reason to fear Orient just need to believe and stop.making errors at the back.

I popped on here to say exactly the same after reading some of the comments earlier.
Of course he makes mistakes, but they all do…I dread to think of the shit he’d get if he made one of the mistakes you’ve mentioned above - and they’re keepers at the very very top of their games.

Sometimes you have to wonder what people expect of L2 footballers.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

100% this.

Pick the league 2 keeper.

1) The ball goes through open legs when you should have used your hands
2) You pass to opposition that’s on the edge of the box
3) You concede from a silly foul giving a free kick away on the edge of the box that rolled past you.

ALL KEEPERS MAKE MISTAKES!

The fault seemed to be with the players in the wall leaving a gap, rather than the goalie with an honourable mention for conceding the free kick in a dangerous position.

Went to the game today, what an experience. I never leave matches early, but after 40 minutes I was wondering just how bad it was going to get and whether this could be the first time. However, at the end of the match I was down at the front applauding a great second half performance. Never lose hope!
In terms of performance, we were set up wrong and had no real options going forward, although as someone has said above, Robbie Gotts was our one bright star until Billy Water’s goal. Pete Wild acknowledged that he got it wrong and changed it back to our early season style - plan A is the real plan B!
Their first goal was a combination of errors - not really all at Paul Farman’s door, as it shouldn’t have been conceded and shouldn’t have got through the wall. The second was a George Ray slip up in an otherwise good performance, but he seems prone to that. Our second half performance was back to early season Barrow - having a good surface to play on seems to have suited our style of play? I know the groundsman and team do their best at HS, but recent weather conditions haven’t helped.
Finally, the Stagsnet forum is in meltdown, with calls for Clough to go. Lots of compliments for Josh Gordon and one fan expressing embarrassment at being out-sung by “a few” Barrow fans (although I must admit it was quiet from around 20-45 mins …).
Feeling good tonight!

The plan B that worked was our plan A all this season. Pete Wild playing 4D chess in Cloughs brain.

That can't be the same non-league standard Newby we signed recently, then. :D
Recently? You mean 7 years ago as a 19 yo, no it isn’t the same player, clearly developed and grown since and will be a useful addition.
You missed my point. I was referring to the moans when we signed him a few days ago and were assured by some he was a Stockport cast-off and had only done anything in the National League; is this the best we can do? etc.
Don't let the old man in.
