A totally unrelated bit of trivia - that was the first 5-3 game I have ever seen, in fact I can't remember any 5-3 Barrow game in nearly 60 years of following the club - can anyone else?
We lost 5-3 (also in torrential rain on a muddy pitch) at Altrincham in the 1988/89 FA Trophy 3rd round. We were 5-0 down at one point.
One of those games that stick in my memory. Went straight from work with a Rochdale supporting colleague. Think John Brady ws the catalyst for our second-half recovery against his former club.We were so much on top only bad luck and good goalkeeping stopped us forcing a remarkable draw.

The Manager seems to be doing what he did last year after Christmas....when he seemed to 'lose his nerve' , and confidence, in his early season tactics. The high press and attack mindedness seemed to be replaced by a desire ' not to lose.' ; Which is not the same as trying to win.
Changing 5 of the starting 11 is asking for trouble. What does he do now? Replace the 5 replacements? Just look at the starting 11 that were winning and change an odd player if needed but don't panic . We are still very well placed and I'm pretty sure we'd have all taken this position in Feb at the start of the season.
This is only my own opinion. It means nothing.
He seemed to bottle it at Halifax when it come to the crunch. He should be desperate to prove himself and actually win something but I feel his attitude is all wrong. Just because we've never had it so good doesn't mean we should just accept going to shit.
Deja Vu?
We were close to the play-offs last season and then the wheels came off.
Makes me wonder if PW starts to appear
nervous and starts to
lose his cool when a team of his are close to winning something. If this is the case it will affect the confidence and the mentality of the players observing him.
Another defeat to Bradford on Saturday and we can wave the play-offs goodbye. We won't come back from that

Many points available yet. Its a tough league. We've outdone everyone's pre season expectations. Hope we can get into playoffs but it's going to be tough. We can turn this round and even if doesn't happen Saturday it's still in our hands. Let's get behind them. They need us big time.

Aye it’s certainly going to take all of us to jump on the rollercoaster and endure what could be the ride of a lifetime. Try and enjoy it if you can but put on a brave face if you can’t and you can always make some noise to add to the excitement

Chester a huge miss at the back. The two wing backs that came in, very very poor. However Stockton looks like a real goal scorer and will be massive for us. Wembley is still on.
And fantastic to see the lad shouting at Farman’s arse well and truly fall out.

It was a few years before Brady - his debut was February 1992.
Lineup was: McDonnell, Higgins, Hulse, Harrison, Gordon, Proctor, Doherty, Reach, Cowps, Lowe, Skivington. Sub: Gill
Scorers: Doherty 2, Gill
Date: 28 Feb 1989

I stand corrected on Brady, case of seeing so many games at Alty over the years my old brain cross-referencing. However unless there was another game I missed I was definitely there ringing wet .

Hope the form turns soon or it's goodbye promotion, saying that L2 is our natural level as we have only had two seasons at L1 level in our history.
Saying that wouldn't mind a season or two in league one to go to all the big grounds. We are very similar to Morecambe, Accrington S and Fleetwood as all those teams eventually if Fleetwood go down find their way back to their natural level of L2
Don’t want to come across as a know all but it was actually 3.
ok lets nit pick

Yeah because shouting abuse at players really does encourage them to want to come and play here!

Don’t think he’s saying that he was glad about the abuse
It reads to me that he’s saying he’s glad that the abuser scurried when PF told them where to go

Back in the day when I played right full-back, it was standard practice back for fullbacks to stand inside both posts on every corner and free kicks and by doing so we saved numerous goals, as there is no way a goalie could cover the entire width of the goal. Clearly this is not the plan with Barrow as we never have anyone guarding the posts and as a result several goals are being scored just inside the posts - Salford's 5th goal being a perfect example.
1.44 min - 1.49 min.

PS: Salford's 4th goal was from another high cross that wasn't dealt with by our goalie or defence. Our achilles heal over the past several games.

Too right, Sam. You can't give somebody like Matt Smith time and space as he knows exactly what to do with it. It was so easy he didn't even need to get his sonic screwdriver out.
