Re: Salford v Barrow match thread
Don't go to the funeral the club is not dead yet, where and when we get the points I do not know they are playing better than a few weeks ago but we need a win, games left so don't book the wake.
Re: Salford v Barrow match thread
Leaving the ground they had “money talks” blasting on the speakers, on the bus the Stone Roses “going down” came on my random iPhone playlist, how apt :/

We've had this scenario before in the National League where it went to the last day got to pick points up.

Completely agree with all this; Whitfield is one of the only players with genuine attacking quality. Earring has done ok last couple of games but he’s not a winger, it’s not ideal but just think personally with what we have at the moment Newby is the option for the wing, least he carries the ball forward and is one of our quicker players on the break (leagues slowest team by a mile)

Sure Harrogate we’re about 1/5 on the other week. Bookies just go with the flow at this level

Genuinely think the squad is so poor they would be fighting relegation from the NL

Woke up this morning - still down. Hoping for a miracle - I don't think we've had back to back wins all season - now would be a good time to start.
On the state of pitches Grimsby's looks as bad as Salford's.

If Newby could cross or shoot he would be a great player.LCBAFC40 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2026 9:44 pm Gifted all 3 goals and could easily have had a point tonight. McCann has 2 chances, 1 absolute sitter. Shipley chance saved on the line. Newby made a difference but squandered 2 great runs into the box by being selfish and blasting miles over when we had players waiting. We're not gone yet !
Don’t see the point of him dribbling the ball for ages to then blast a cross out of play

Same. Take a bit of the heat off Stanway, we did it before until Winterbottom got injured at Tranmere and Stanway had to come back in.
He's a young keeper and they do make mistakes, even Farman wasn't immune from them although his kicking was much better.
Dixon a few years was particularly error prone before he matured and cut them out.
He has saved us on a few occasions has Stanway but has also thrown a couple in recently last night, Fleetwood away...Winterbottom has never let us down and as Foley says we need the competition all over.
Re: Salford v Barrow match thread
We wont go down because of mistakes at the back, we will go down because of our inability to score enough goals. It was the problem highlighted last season, and I don’t know what player stats they are looking at but that was not addressed in summer. Teams who struggle to score end up near the bottom, and here we are.Scott5 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2026 5:26 pmSame. If we had two players who could score just 10 goals each in this squad, we would not be where we are. We have not got one single player represented across the league in the top 40 for goals or for assists, yet we've spent half the season bemoaning the lack of a right back and picking up on defensive mistakes. No wonder the defence is under so much pressure because we haven’t got a regular goal scorer or someone providing regular assists!!! That has always been the main concern being highlighted after 6 games!!
