Have to agree. From the radio commentary I was expecting to see the lad pushed to the ground 2-handed by Anderton. Not a bit of it.

Are you saying that if these promises (if that's what they were) had not been made, you would not have voted for a takeover? What was the alternative?

Im not saying it would have changed the outcome.

All Im saying is there was no real need to promise x,y and z in order to convince fans to vote in favour. Especially when there was no plan in place to implement them.

Some fans forget , I don't

Floodlights very poor - is there an update about when these are sorted -

Our next home game sees us on BT sport - they won't be back for any night game anytime soon

Very dodgy penalty decision....if that had been awarded to us I would've thought we were bloody lucky to get it.

If there is a person in that dressing room who can pull the team back together and set us off on another run it'll be Danny, I thought it showed just why he's captain after he scored his goal and he dragged everyone around to celebrate.

It should be extremely worrying to fans the amount of money being spent based on the hope the club may one day get promoted. The club cannot forever live off cash injections without meeting some sort of trouble.
So you keep saying.. why not have another meeting with Mr Casson or your friend Austin..tell them what you think again face to face..or get a pie van on Holker street

People keep having a pop but no one has any reasonable response.
What happens if/when we are still in the conference in two seasons? Still keep rattling out huge wages on people who could've signed for Dortmund to rot on the bench? Even casson will get bored of that.

Oh the irony you critice people for their views, but defend someone (irrespective of investment )that not once not twice but at least three times gave details of 5 year plans , fan involvement, choosing architects etc.
So please don't have a go at people for pointing this out have a go at the person who divulged all these plans!

You mean the owner of the club big nige? Just maybe he can do things as he wishes, as you possibly do with the things you own.

As long as he produces the results on the field (which he is doing - best season for a long time), people will turn up, good players will come......

Of course he can do what he wants but since his takeover (which I welcome, don't get me wrong) he has built expectation that there will be major improvements to infrastructure withiin the relatively short term, e,g, developing one side of the ground each season. It's the dashing of that expectation which is causing disappointment together with, for a successful businessman like him, an organisation which at times is far from business-like.

Perhaps Mr Casson is becoming the Trump of Barrow AFC: his detractors take him literally but not seriously, his supporters take him seriously but not literally :?

As for your second point, the fact is people aren't turning up in the numbers hoped for - we've had plenty of discussion about that - and Coxy implied in his interview yesterday that getting good players was not as easy as, say, York who are bottom!

I don't think PC had the first idea what he was getting into.

We would have voted for this as well

Not all is right though..all of us seem to make everything too difficult at Barrow..

But we are doing better on the park than in years

Have I missed owt?

Good summary barrowaberdeen.

I know numerous obstacles have since appeared which has delayed progress. I'm sure Paul wants things done properly v papering over the crack by previous debt ridden boards. Not blaming them because its a hard job keeping clubs financially going. I've been there with another club It takes time to unearth the issues and the original plans sometimes need to be turned on their head to get it right, taking up more time. To us it seems like nothing is moving and feet are dragging. What was once a bullish promise has probably turned out to be a long haul in order to get things passed by local authorities, building regulations, health and safety, and bless them, our Town Hall planning. It doesn't matter how much money you have, these operations often leave things in the in-tray for months, for various reasons.

You probably noted, like I, that there is a growing possibility of moving away from Holker St and building afresh - as did Fylde, Fleetwood, etc. It can be a cheaper and faster option. But you don't take those decisions lightly. There is too much history and memories that would be thrown away.

So let's not slate the owner too much. He stepped in because of his passion for the town and club. Yes he may not have had the full picture when he made that decision to buy, or even when he revealed his expected plans. But his intention is honest. The recent unearthed problems almost certainly caused the delaying factors, and then spending time to work out which way to go - renovate or start afresh. Not his willingness to invest in the club.

In the end we will all benefit from the best solution. It's just a pity Paul didn't step in several years earlier. We would now be experiencing the benefits of his careful investment.
