We had three young players who were developing...... then sold under orders from the owner. You can't surely agree with this as from your post you further the opposite?
Get real.
This is agood thing forvthe club. Players will see that if they come here and perform they will move on. In other words a club that is a stepping stone to the football league. Brilliant. Nothing wrong with a reputation like that for up and coming players.
Not good for a Manager trying to build a team over 2-3 seasons or fans looking to see the club build a stronger team season on season. Do you want us to be stepping stone club? I don't.

Surely this is the contrary to what you suggested?
Young guys with some older heads you stated.
A good concept but if we have ambition why sell the younger players after one season?
Where is the clubs development there?
They are sold off and we start again. How on earth can you develop a title winning squad doing this each year?
You're the businessman you claim....what business structure would you submit ?
Detailed plan not warm air please.

Detailed plan....
Would rather attract good players that want to further their careers than mercenaries wanting a good pay cheque. That is step 1
If they get noticed by a league side.... would you make them stay?
How do you think the three guys BOUGHTby league sides or the people playing along side them would like toplay for a team that will not help push them in to the big time.
Ask Grant Holt on his thoughts!!!!!!

I believe players have release clauses in their contracts otherwise they won't sign. On the Carlisle website they were wondering what price release Bennett had in his. Not sure of the players name but they had one whose buy out was £250,000 and they lost him.

Yes we get all that, good for Williams, Bennet etc, good money, but it does not help us build a team to progress on the pitch. What message does it send out to fans We may get a wonder kid in, Bauress, Makoma etc, but this is just a shop window for them, dont expect them here next season if they do the business. Take last seasons team. Two or three quality additions in Jan would have taken us further. If not Jan then this close season. We'll never know for certain of course, but I think we were that close to having a side that could have pushed Luncoln all the way. We all know we lacked the strength in depth when it was needed.
Unless absolutely necessary, dont change it, add to it. Continuity and cohesion key to success in football.

You have got it in one.
To us the fan it is no good.
An ideal world we would uncover gazza and keep him and others for ever. Real world it is not going to happen.
Want to be the team that future stars know is where you get noticed....
Even that is a massive step from from being bottom of conference north a SMALL time ago

I guess the trick is to have a mix of young up and comings you can develop for a season or two and like Lincoln have players like Matt Rhead who is too old for the league. Really the balance has swung in the favour of players and agents, probably too far.

Yes totally.
So we have to try and manipulate it into our favour.
All part of the game

Maybe Paul Cox said give me x amount and ill build you a squad to win the league then he asked for more money and Paul Casson said sorry you've had your lot. We saw the form of Jordan Williams drop after being denied a move in Jan. As for Bennett a lot of fans were having a good moan about him a lot of last season. You can't just say to players you can't move up.

Valid points and all adds to not quite knowing what our fan expectations should be. Slightly going off topic but this is a conv I've had with several fans. When do we shake off the little old Barrow shackles that hang around, especially amongst our fans. It feels like it has us setting low expectations.

No not at all low expectations. Once we reach the football league the shackles will be off to a certain extent.

Quite possibly, but why when it could be seen we were serious contenders going into Christmas. We ran out of steam and injuries took their toll. I fully understand players wanting to play at the highest they can, but want them to do it with us. If this team finish close but fall short will we see the sane thing happen again next summer? Is that a good formula for building a competitive team?

If money has been made available in January I am sure we would have got promoted.
Bennett looked worn out at times and did well.
In reality if we got promoted would massive investment in the ground have been required.
In the the owners cost benefit analysis sheet it might have shown he would have to spend more money for less return

The club has stated a few times that this is how we are operating ****At the moment, Not for ever**** That's the main reason Oggy is here to identify, take a looksee then bring in as much young talent as possible, polish up then sell on for profit.

But it's only part of the plan as we grow the club, So expect more of the same, It could work out great as if a couple hit the big-ish time & we have a 10/15% further sell on clause to cash in on, any of these sales further raises or profile, brings in big profits & helps us to become more sustainable, Iast season only saw 3 leave for profit the rest left because they were seen either not good enough or to old or not part of our plans.

I hope each season sees less player exchanges as we slowly mold the side to get us that promotion.

Back to January eh Pedro, have you mentioned this before?
