Must've missed Kay getting booked. What was that for??

Jesus you talk some rubbish.
This tickled me!

Win horrible is much better than playing really well and losing. I’ll take 3 shitty points now until the end of the season.

Coming onto the pitch not where he should have but ref tbh was a bit poor

Pleased for the win. It was turgid, but I think Jolley said his first priority was to make us hard to beat. Defence looked reasonably solid until stoppage time.

Quigley had a very poor game, couldn't hold on to the ball or make anything happen. Highlight was one brilliant piece of passing football for the goal and a very good finish from Josh Kay.

If there's a way to get booked, Josh Kay will find it

On a serious note how manys that in the league now?

We' s be a bit better if Quigley actually concentrated on playing football !

Very pleased with that. A couple of takeaways:

- How much have we missed Jones at the back? Composed on the ball, quick, good positioning and seemed to have a telepathic connection with Platt.

- 4 at the back was a lot better than 5. It seemed like people knew where to be and how to get structured. Not once did I feel like they threatened down either wing.
- Eardley had a good debut. Set pieces were better and he seemed to control the game.

- Quigley is clearly lacking something because it just isn't happening for him at the minute. He seems more interested in falling over and shouting at the ref than getting into good positions.

- Kay looked more threatening because he had less defensive duties. If only we could pick him out when he is open (which was a lot today).

- Biggins had his best game in a Barrow shirt by a country mile.

It ain't pretty but we need to toughen up. We can't be Barrocelona and getting beat 2-0 every week. I am sure Jolley doesn't want to play the way we did today but ultimately we are where we are and he is right to make us more compact and tough to beat. As today showed, you only need one chance when you can defend in blocks and make yourself difficult to break down.
And on the 7th day god created football

That was torture to watch after THEY were reduced to 10 men. Nerves feel shot to pieces! But it was our day in the end and even Grimsby-Southend was the right result.

We are a side at the wrong end of the table and we need to do whatever it takes. Nervy towards the end but this is where we are right now.
This was all about the win today and we managed it.

Saturday night always feels a little bit better after any win but even more so after such an important one.

Well played Barrow
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

I'll agree with that. I thought Biggins did well today. Seemed to be more involved, battled more in the middle, lovely final ball for the goal as well as great effort to get up the pitch and support the play.
Was it a back 4 or 5? At times it looked like it could be either or. Certainly looked like a 4 at first but then at times we had eardley, Jones, Platt, Brough and Kay all back in a 5. Jones and Brough ventured a long way forward with Beadling looking like he was dropping in to cover in a 3. That's what I thought I saw anyway.

I think Adam nailed it. Out of possession it was a back four. In possession, Beadling moved into a back three which released Brough and Eardley (and Jones at times) to get forward.

As the late great Ray Wilkie used to say. "I will take a 1-0 win any day even if it's a last minute goal off a defenders backside." Big 3 points in the bag.

Well done Barrow ...3 more points in the bag and an improved position in the table - all good for building confidence.

Tough games ...no doubt in tough conditions , to come now . Let's keep it going lads. :skill:
First match : Barrow v Northampton Town : Sat. 24th Sept. 1960 ... won 1-0... ( which was nice )
