No way the ref could send Eardley off after he just let Tanner off with a much worse challenge about two minutes earlier.

I have listened to Chris Bitch regularly on Radio Carlisle he reminds me of a car salesman fast loosing the sale of a LADA.
He needs to talk to Rob Kelly to give him tips on sounding proffesional, rough round the edges is being polite.

Unfortunate surname for a Commentator.

Carlisle fans are generally bitter about having to share a division with little tinpot Barrow, so this sort of drivel is to be expected from them.
They also described Harrogate as 'tinpot'.
Strange attitude, coming from a recent non-league team. Perhaps Carlisle fans have a selective memory.

The EFL have announced that all games will be moved as a mark of respect. They are going to talk to the clubs about the new arrangements.

With the score at 0-1 I thought I'd switch to the away commentary for a few minutes, just out of interest. During those few minutes we scored twice, so being a bit superstitious about things like that I decided to stay with it for the rest of the game. I agree they were fine in their attitude towards Barrow, the only thing they got a bit aerated about was the Eardley incident, which was understandable. Phillips was heaping loads of praise on Quigley, saying he wished he was in Carlisle's team.

I switched it off a couple of times in the build up to the game because of their bias. Then came their managers view of the game. Think he's a scouser so all he does is moan and is so condescending towards "little Barrow" - "they are all six footers so they lump it up to Quigs" etc etc. On the point of our "narrow" pitch from the Carlisle forum I was reliably told by someone at the ground last summer that Holker St in the same dimensions as Anfield. Whether it is or not it definitely conforms to FA standards. Lastly, the word Cumbria! Carlisle, if I remember rightly, was in Cumberland. We Barrovian "colonists" settled in Lancashire. Get your facts right on the Carlisle forum please. Rant over on to Exeter who play in West Wales I believe!
And ........................breathe??
To be honest the pitch did look quite narrow on iplayer, but I suppose that is to do with the camera angle.
Beech is from Fleetwood near Blackpool.
Thought the commentators on both sides were actually pretty good, both praising and knocking each others teams pretty evenly.
And, I was born in Westmorland....what does that make me???? :D
"""Stateless""" The pitch at Barrow is deceiving because of where the cameras are, there is at least another 4 mtrs that you can't see with that camera angle its not all playing surface but could be, the ground is not up to league standard yet because of 48 years in the wilderness, when we were thrown out there was not the pyramid system there is now, we were left to our own devices for many years we did not enjoy all the money that being in the E.F.L. like yourselves enjoyed but it will be improved year on year if we can stay in it, it started in the summer with lots of things being done to allow us to play in the .E.F.L. I consider myself to be a Lancastrian not Cumbrian, I also am old enough to remember our games in the old Div 3 North and good ones they were, I hope we can stay in this league and play you next year with a settled side which we have rarely had till Rob Kelly took over so hopefully see you next season with crowds there as well.

Thought radio Cumbria covered today very well and were fair to both sides.

It used to be that they seemed to have far more to say about Carlisle than Barrow but I think they seem to be mending their ways in that respect.

I’m somewhere in-between. When I was born in Barrow during the 80s it was Cumbria, plus I’ve represented Cumbria playing sport before, so really proud about that.

That said, I love Lancashire and have a strong bond/allegiance. Most likely due to having family from that area.

Mostly just proud to be a Northerner. Us folk really are the best.

You could hear them moaning about the Eardley incident in the background of the Barrow commentary!

This^ For me! The Tanner incident gave Neil Eardley a get out of jail card at the time.

Thought we did brilliantly after a woeful start when we got caught napping for Carlisle to score. The first goal by Quigley was good but the way the ball was worked and the well measured pass by Quigley for Brough to score the second was sublime. Shame we couldn’t hold on for a all three points but on balance the points deserved to be shared.
