For all things Barrow AFC. Keep discussions civil and fair, we're all Barrow aren't we!

The poor old little Barrow mentality has done for us big time, it’s about time we stopped playing on this because it’s counter productive. I honestly believe the owners have given the manager a good budget this season but we have a hyped up football agent pulling the strings
I don't think many people are playing on this, they're just trying to be realistic. You've given many examples in your whole response of how we are low budget, saying we should have spent better to get over that invites the obvious response that we can't afford to.

The summer business felt like we were cutting our cloth to our means, bringing Josh Gordon back (and I like what he's done for us) even more so. We will find out in the January window if there's a war chest. If not we really have to hope that two of the other clubs in the relegation mix haven't either.

The most annoying thing over the past 4-5ish games is that the team has shown it is capable of playing some decent stuff and has the ability to take the game to our opponents. The obvious issue is that when we are bad during games, we are abysmally bad.

For as much that is said about our imbalanced defence and light-weight attack, the central midfield lacks a proper leader and a ball winner as we lose ground too quickly and easily from our attacking positions back into our defensive third. I doubt we’ll be able to bag a decent striker in the January transfer window but we definitely need to bag a RB and one (if poss) or two (dreamland) solid, experienced non-injury prone Centre Mids if we are to pull away from our current position.

What a stupid statement this is.Without people like Paul Hornby there would be no.Barrow AFC.These people are first and foremost fans, why else would they put their own money in?Much more of this type of criticism and they will walk away, put the whole site up for sale and guess what a new housing estate where once dreams were made.
I for one am grateful for what they do.We are not a multi million pound club and never will be.I have watched Barrow AFC since the early 1960s and our ground has now facilities I could have only dreamed of not that many years ago.
We definitely need improvements on the pitch, one being a big guy up front who would have made sure that the cross Josh Gordon skied ends up in the net. That is the one missing piece of the jigsaw. For a lot of the second half we played really well, but we are lacking a finisher who won,t get bullied off the ball.Ok our defence isn,t anything to shout about, but with the right coaching I think that could be sorted out.
.I don,t think McDonald is the right man for the job.I just hope we can find somebody who is.

I was at the game and full marks to him for coming over to engage with the fans it would have been so much easier for him just to have walked off the pitch. Some of the fans were to put it mildly annoyed and let their feelings known. I couldn’t hear everything but he did say something along the lines we need everyone pulling together, fans included, especially at times like this. I just get the impression something is going on behind the scenes we’re not privy too but maybe I’m reading too much into it. I also watched the McCann club interview he seemed genuinely upset with how things have panned out and it reminded me of the Scott Quigley interview a few years ago. This season has been poor but I genuinely think most of our players care a lot about the club whether they’re good enough to keep us up is an altogether different debate.

What a really poor last comment.
They do come on here and read the comments.
When Holker Street has 50 houses on it and your watching HOB is least we won't have to read your shite comments

This is really out of order.
Very easy to spend other people's money.
The people who have backed Barrow have done it out of love of the club not for profit.
You also have to think the likes of Mr Hornby are from more of a gentle background.
Personally I think they have been hoodwinked.
There are alot of Charlatans in football.
Phil Brown had the gift of the gab.
A former Manager of ours went to a non league club and in less than half a season used 40 players turned out he was. a agent as well.
The naivety was shown by the appointment of Dunn and Jolly!!!
I think the money seen spent has wasted which comes from people.talking a good job but not actually doing one.

We have to let the board get on and the silence is indicative of us being in trouble.
Whatever happens one should not doubt there sincerity so let's get off there back.
We all know Mcdonald is not the answer ,even if Cook comes without some guidance off the field he could fail.

You've objected to a suggestion that the Chairman is the problem and then said that a man who is an accountant by profession has been hoodwinked and has wasted money. The phrase 'with friends like these' springs to mind.

I did object to the Chairman being the problem and I did say he has been hoodwinked and the money that has been spent has been wasted.
I did not infer it was intentional I just think he has been naive which is easily understood when you are dealing with numbers and not people.
Do you not believe people could have the best intentions but mistakes can be made because of there use to dealing with agents players.
I think Paul Hornby comes over as a good human being and probably trusts to much

Unlike in accounts there is no algorithm to work things out with deceitfull people.

So he is not the problem .

I believe talks have been held with Brady, but he wanted his whole backroom staff which the club wouldnt do. That may be a money decision or it maybe a 'dont want to get rid of the boys' decision. To me, spend the money now to save it later. But it aint my money so easy for me to say

Brady is a no brainer but it's down to money.
If he brought his team with him it would mean a clear out of the staff there now which would be a good thing .
We need a clean sweep but again restricted by money probably

Very strange decision to bring both wing backs off at the same time when we were on top.

I would have brought Newby on for Barkhuizen and left it at that.

We started slow as many have pointed out but when we want to we can play some decent stuff. Think it’s juts belief with our team - absolutely shot of confidence. The new manager needs to be experienced in bringing a bit of fight in to a team

Also in regards to formation , it’s interesting that Whing ‘tried’ the 4 at the back in one game which didn’t work (but then again Worrel was his right back) and Macdonald tried it for about 30 mins before changing it mid game.

I think this alone is poor - yes we don’t have the players for the formation which is a different conversation- but it shows we are unwilling or unable work on other formation/s other than the one we have been playing - with little success - all season

If we wanted a right back before Jan, I’m sure we could have found one on loan or a free agent. To play Worrel there and then say it doesn’t work is a cop out.
And for McDonald to try it for 30 mins on his first game before completely abandoning it since is also strange.
