Their co-presenter, who's name I didn't catch, suggested that referees have been instructed to ignore shirt pulling if the shirt is then quickly released.
Was he being truthful?
That was Paul Clark, an ex Southend player and manager. He asked the Ref's assessor at half time, and that was his response.

We’re improving, the recent results show that - we’ve also played 8/11 of top teams in the table. I think the most interesting part is that we have a real goal scoring threat , which comes right across the front line . Football games are won with blood sweat and desire. If we can keep that evident spirit in place we’ll do ok. The home games have been entertaining, the darkness reserved largely for the away trips . I thought the last game v Aldershot was entertaining.
Two home games to come. Fingers crossed we can keep going . We don’t need to fear anyone in this league.

Great result, great tactics, 4 goals away from home against a top two side, what's not to like? If you find any negative in that performance well lets say your sad.

All this nonsense about, 'I'd rather watch a good game of football'.
Give me a team thats going to battle and scrap and take the points any day. The more pleasing to the eyes stuff may well come along when this team has established itself.

I found yesterday to be a very enjoyable and entertaining game. We stifled them first half and cut loose after halftime. More of that for the remainder of the season will do me just fine.
Everything went right yesterday from the train journey down and on our return to the bars we visited. Proud to be part of the 133 who roused the team for the duration and that was reciprocated by a great team performance.
I honestly couldn’t pick a MoM as so many shone.

It doesn’t surprise me at all that some on here can turn all the positivity of yesterday into a negative. It’s just the way some are wired.

First win on the road since 29th December
First time in exactly 12months that we’ve recorded back to back league victories
All I’ve heard from people who were there are things like best away day in a very long time
Yes are are aggressive and in faces - a lot of the fouls conceded yesterday were more down to the officials than our style. Some were extremely soft as has been the case throughout this season.
How many times have we seen teams come to us and bloody our noses and win by being better at the dark arts
One of them is presently in league one and finished just outside the play offs last season
Another just got promoted to league one last season.
The style is effective. Even Man City (charges aside) have developed a tougher approach to things this season
Arsenal’s invincibles were built on being tough whilst allowing the players with technical ability to do the rest.
Ultimately we are still growing as well and the more confidence grows the more we will start to see the technical ability thrive.
Instead of arguing over this and that let’s just enjoy the fact we are starting to see signs of a team returning - and a bond between players and supporters starting to grow. We’ve suffered as a fanbase over the last 12months (maybe even longer) let’s enjoy good things when they happen

Credit where credit is due, that was an excellent result away yesterday against a decent team in Southend with some very good players for the level.
A couple of weeks ago after that Solihull match I was concerned. Not just the result but the manner of it. Looking at their results since still it shows just how bad it was and whilst it’s only two games, hopefully we’ve turned a corner.
I think as someone else said elsewhere we’ve a few big lads in there, bullies and are good at the dark arts, but we’ve also added a few footballers now in Ward, Mooney, Edwards although he didn’t play yesterday and Thompson who looks lively.
We might concede a couple pressing high and leaving gaps but how good at 1-2 and 2-3 to see us not camped in hanging on like last season, and going for the next goal. It’s a fine line between not shutting up shop too much and being gung-ho but we got it right and maybe got a bit of luck along the way too.
This is almost the quarter mark and the signs are encouraging and I think Murray is still trying to work out his best team and that will come over time. Still probably one or two players short but I’ve not seen anything in the league to worry about, Boreham Wood aside who look like they could run away with it.

Bless those who have to rely on BBC Essex to find something miserable to say about beating the team in second place away from home while scoring four goals. It's must be horrible not being able to moan about us losing.
The majority will enjoy the success however it comes.
