Doesn't need to be a chaplain then does it? Is there a club doctor? They can do the job just as well...unless it involves religion.Jonty wrote:This view may be shared by 99 of 100 fans, so for you and these people- he's not needed. The club chaplain is there for that one person, fan, player, or member of staff who would welcome sharing a problem with someone if they have no one else to turn to. Addictions, depression, financial issues, family issues, whatever else, it can come to anyone, regardless of faith it doesn't matter. No mention of religion there.barrowfan_chris wrote:Like he said there is nothing to stop this chaplain paying to get in. No place for religion in football IMO.

No maybe not, butI'm not sure what point you're trying to make? The religion part is irrelevant. Sports chaplaincy training is specific to the role and he was there for anyone. That's it. Some people may take strength from that sort of service, so for that alone I think it's a valuable role.

Re: Bluebirds Trust Q&A
The point I am trying to make is that a chaplain is a religious position and it offends me, same as a football club being involved with promoting any politician offends me. I'm sure I'll be in the minority but the place for religion is in a church (or other similar non-deity-specific house of worship/sacrifice). The place for a politician is in Whitehall or their surgery (or other similar non-party-specific hovel of [SwearFilter] about). Both can do one from football as far as I am concerned. I have no patience for either.

It's quite common in football, doesn't mean we have to, and PC can do what he likes. In the interest of anyone enjoying football hope the vicar continues to go to the games. Bit crass if club encouraged him to pay for training. But I grew up with religion in football so am not a fan in principle.
Politicians (Not politically!) am 100% in agreement with Hoss, that Woodcock/Walker election thing was dreadful

Re: Bluebirds Trust Q&A
On a match day I would be very worried if a player wanted to start sharing any problems he may have with a chaplain. As for the fans I would think they are there to watch a game of football and forget their problems. I would be concerned if the person next to me started discussing anything private at the game and as he lives in Millom making an appointment can't be a solution.Jonty wrote:This view may be shared by 99 of 100 fans, so for you and these people- he's not needed. There are many outlets to help people, their own GP, the Samaritans etc. A football match surely can't be the place.

Is it possible that he disagrees with having a religious figurehead at the club? If he does then I agree with that.
Shocking isn't it?
