Watched the game on ifollow.
Carlisle looked like a team who will be promoted. They had a touch of 'Class' about them. Apart from Whitfield and Brough we don't have any. We looked devoid of confidence with players pulling out of tackles and passes going astray. I expect us to be mid table by the end of the season - which isn't a bad thing compared to the last two
I was upset by the two commentators last night. Both seemed biased against Barrow. Think they knew it too - one suggested to his buddy that their Barrovian colleagues (at Radio Cumbria) would be just the same - this was after one of them had reprimanded the other for speaking harshly about The Bluebirds. One of the comments claimed that Carlisle had put us "firmly in our box" - aluding to the notion that they consider Barrow AFC to be the lesser of the two clubs in Cumbria.
The way those commentaors spoke - and the reaction of their fans at the final whistle - would have made neutrals think that Carlisle considered the defeat of little 'ol Barrow to be a massive scalp!

Carlisle were good in the first half but we more than matched them. A goal immediately before half-time is a tonic and, for whatever reason, they raised their game in the second half. We were overwhelmed rather than giving up and couldn't cope. Possibly the best second half positive performance by opponents I have seen so far this season - as good in its way as Orient's at Holker Street, which was a master class in preventing football.
Afraid I don't agree with that in any way. Orient were a far better passing team than Carlisle. Defensively, Carlisle were solid but that meant getting to the ball and heaving it forward. There was next to no build up from the back. In fact, in the first half with the wind, Carlisle were pretty clueless and had no idea how to keep the ball in play whenever they hit a forward pass. They played better in the second half but almost all the goals were mistakes by our players usually the right side of the defence. I hardly remember an attack of significance coming from the Canavan/Brough side in the second half.
Feel free to disagree.
Last night wasn't a night for long passes, with a westerly swirling unpredictably around the ground and both teams failed with three out of every four long balls while both teams passed pretty accurately otherwise, given the conditions (Barrow slightly better, to my surprise). The big difference was that Carlisle took four times more shots, three-quarters of which were on target (Barrow 1 from 4) and the goals came when we let Carlisle get into a position to score as much as their creative ability. Despite that, Barrow had more possession in each half - something we have seen previously when Barrow have lost - but weren't allowed or were unable to make use of it.
I was referring to the Orient home game, which I also attended - perhaps you meant the away - and my reference was to the way Orient prevented Barrow from playing the free-flowing football that had been a trademark previously, rather than to make a passing comparison between Orient and Carlisle.

Was the Barrow commentary not available when you paid your £10 to support Barrow?

Was at the game last night and didn't want to post straight after when emotions were still running high so doing it now.
For 40 minutes it was an even, if low on quality, game and if the ball had gone under, instead of hitting the crossbar midway through the 1st half, it could have been a different result.
Completely agree that we were dismal in the second half and got battered, but that was the best I've seen anyone play against us all season and I think Carlisle will definitely go up automatically.
We've given a really good account of ourselves in most games this season and had some fantastic results, so I think we should look at where we were, where we are now-2 points off the play offs, and where PW and the board plan to be in the future..
I don't doubt we have weaknesses but don't all L2 sides?
All Bluebirds are Blue.

Someone on the Clubs Facebook accusing Pete Wild of taking back handers to lose and loan out our players...
Hope "someone" has a good solicitor then.

Regarding the RC post-match, it was particularly tastless, or perhaps thoughtless.
It is not hard to imagine that if the scores had been reversed and Carlisle had been hammered 5-1, the post match would have been a discussion between Phillips and Lumsden about Carlisle's failings rather than how brilliant Barrow were.

Yes must admit I found the highlights of the Carlisle commentary that featured Philips and Lumsden was particularly ott in putting down Barrow. I thought the BBC was supposed to be neutral when they cover the whole of Cumbria but this was once again like Radio Carlisle to the exclusion of Barrow.
I listened to Adam and Goody whilst watching iFollow and their reactions were far more measured. I suppose to some extent this was inevitable given the way the match was going but judging by the Carlisle highlights I heard just before 10 it was far more professional.
I hope Adam gets his wish to work full-time for the beeb, because listening on Tuesday he was far more professional than one of those who is already there.

Yes, this stand out comment from James Philips I heard as well. I thought Chris Lumsden was fair and quite balanced in his assessments whereas James Philips gets exited and jovial. As the saying goes......'Many A True Word Spoken In Jest'.

Wait until we turn them at HS in April to scupper their promotion chances

Agree-Simpson was spot on.
So were Chris Lumsden's comments in the after match analysis also.

Great, honest, and a joy to read, even if I did have to look up what onanism meant! Have to say that was a particularly good word to use about that particular man!
