we need a player in the graham anthony mode,to me mellor is not a central midfielder more like a player who likes to play just behind the forwards,if there was one signing we should have made it was a quality proven midfielder, also our wingers have to graft more in this league you rarely see teams with players not have having a good work ethic!
He captained a League 2 side which reached the play offs.
Not sure where that nonsense has come from. Bira Dembele was the captain for the most part, Bond barely got a run in the team, played less than half of the fixtures and only filled in at right back a few times:

Maybe they didn't jump into the stand and shake everyone's hand but they did show appreciation.
No they didn't.
Did they or didn't they? I don't know. As soon as the final whistle blew, a few supporters nipped into the gents below the stand, in advance of a long journey home.
Bladders emptied, two of us emerged from the toilets only to find that a segregation fence between us and the exit had been locked shut, and the stewards were oblivious to our plight.
We made our way to the opposite end of the stand, only to find there was no way out there either.
Eventually we found a steward and enlisted his help in getting out. At this point it got farcical.
He took us over to a gate, padlocked with a combination lock ... but he couldn't remember the code. Neither could a colleague who came over to find out what was happening.
Fortunately a spectator, who had popped out of the stand on the touchline to the left of where we had been for a smoke, suggested that if we went into the bar we could get out through the exit there.
Freedom at last!

God forbid. I think the reason why no one has signed him is obvious. West Ham fans made their voices heard!

The players more or less stood just past the half way line to applaud. Fair play to Cooky who did venture further but on glancing back realised he was on his own and turned back.
The days of players coming down in front of the fans have long gone now as I was told, when I questioned this last season, that they aren't going to do it when they are shouted and sworn at as happened after a particularly bad result. Oh dear.
I have always found, even after massacre games like the Mansfield 8-1 loss when they were applauded off the pitch, if the fans know every effort has been made they will acknowledge that.
I recall when we were relegated at Cambridge?, the players came down and stood in front of us and were given a fantastic reception by the fans and they reciprocated appreciating the support despite the disappointment from both sets---Mike Peo crying etc and probably a few more wet eyes in the dressing room.
There's no connection with these teams now---don't see them, don't know them and will probably forget all about them once they go.
There's certainly no Brian Arrowsmith, Fred Else or Paul Jones memories with any of these players.

Which more than reinforces the point that we are basically a version of the teams we have hated in recent years, Fleetwood, Crawley etc. 'Buying success', players that are here solely for the money. The 'normal' fans being forgotten about etc.
Welcome to hell.

And as I said (until this season) they are just like us during the week--electricians, carpet fitters, hotel workers and roofers. Prima Donas we aren't used to. We are non league.
Mind you to be fair no one should be sworn at as they don't go out to play badly or not to try imo. A discreet silence says more I think.
Anyway we have won 1 lost 1 in a month that sees us play some strong contenders for promotion---and our old friends Eastleigh are doing great.
A greater worry is no cottage pies or meat products at FG. I must pm Sledge and find out what he has on his menu.

This will only get worse when the crossbar eventually becomes corporate only. Will have to pay money to mingle with them,I wouldn't pay a quid tbf.
