Good point it is still early days but, I think in 07/08 everyone knew that we had a decent squad and Phil Wilson just wasn’t getting the best out of them. We were on the wrong end of a few 1-0s and it wasn’t quite happening.
This team I don’t see many positives in at all, and we’ve been outplayed and outfought already way too often. I think there’s the ability in there to do better but we lack the basics and are playing people out of position, and arguably some are just not up to it or haven’t shown that they are yet.

As much as people don't like to hear it, season upon season we are slipping down the pecking order (along with the likes of Accrington and Harrogate) when it comes to the resources required to compete at this level. Before anyone mentions it, I am well aware that the National League is more of a financial minefield than this one. Every pound has to stretch further season after season, hence why we are now needing to make riskier signings. In this scenario we need stability more than anything, relentless managerial churn just eats away financially. Therefore I still firmly believe we shouldn't be making changes unless things are absolutely desperate, which despite the last few weeks, isn't the case at the moment.

Very good post. Crowds dropping as well this season so unless another investor does materialise then if (*when?*) we stay up it’s only going to get tougher again next season as another two richer clubs come up from non league

Reading most of the replies on here you have to say most are on the same page we lost 3 really good mid Fielders and replaced them with 3 very average players and that's the problem but I will be there tomorrow despite how bad they are, I would love to know what Mr Shearer is thinking.

Totally agree. Maybe they should come at as with Pete Wild and say it’s a 2/3 year project and Andy will have that time

That was the choice of the three midfielders the club could do nothing about it. As for your £2 millions worth we would have been lucky to get even half of that for all 3

Thank as supporters, all we want to see is grit and determination along with a few wins.. it's the nature of the defeats that's hurting us all..

I think around a million for all 3 sounds about right, unfortunately we don’t have that sort of money to replace them.

Injuries have played a big part, just like they did last season. Ideally, we’d have Harper and Williams in the midfield, who will get stuck in and battle, but both have been missing for a huge part of the season so far.

Unfortunately no the only choice I guess is to sell earlier before their contracts expire and get some money back, but then weaken the team and you could perhaps say shows a lack of ambition.

We’ve lost a few over the years that way but damned if you do damned if you don’t almost. Tie on a longer contract and then you’re stuck with a player potentially not performing and costing money, don’t and you risk losing ala Brough, Gordon, Whitfield and the three above. But it is probably something the club needs to consider more in terms of the future and transfers, potential sell ons etc.

You can’t force a player to leave for a fee. They hold all the aces these days and running their contract down works in their favour especially in league 2 when trying to maximise income in what is after all not a long career
