Whing said last weekend they had spent the whole week working on moving the ball quicker and getting into areas going forwards, so what happened when it came to Saturday...they either didn't listen and or are incapable of following his instructions.
At the moment we don’t have skilful enough players
I think the players we have are more than capable but I just don't feel well get the best out of them!

And then that is the question as to why? On the interviews they do, they talk about togetherness and come over as a willing confident bunch.. but sometimes this isn't reflected on the pitch!

but hey, for what it's worth.. Liverpool, huge budget, so called stars, premier league team and they look poor.. man utd, huff and puff and again, mega budget but couldn't put a cross into a voting slip!

So the budget thing doesn't and never has washed with me.. you either have a group of winners or you don't but also, a winning mentality comes from the man in charge!

Crowds continue to drop , the grounds like a morgue nobody’s really interested in the game just having a chat.
Interesting. Looking at the crowd shots on Ian Allington’s regular photo posts, would it be fair to say that 75% of our supporters are over 60? Most of those people are not the same animal in their 60s as they were in their 20s it's fair to say. They might be less inclined to meet in numbers pre-match and arrive at the ground rather merry and in the mood for the game and a sing-song.

So maybe what’s on offer for today’s 20-somethings isn’t enough to attract them in great numbers and/or on a regular basis. At some of the more high-profile away fixtures I have noticed how young some sections of the home support appear to be. These sections also tend to be the more raucous and melodious sections of the crowd of course. On our day we can still be as loud and proud as anybody I would say but it certainly helps if you have something to shout about. :scarf:

Or we need the whole holker street end back to its rightful owners to get some atmosphere back 🤔

Sort out the tangled safety net behind the practice goals area another 2 sections of the Holker St end would be usable again. They have been like that for nearly 2 years now

Something is wrong with the atmosphere at Holker Street when Bluey is needed to gee up the crowd. It’s bizarre. Quiet, souless at times. Wasn't like this in the early 90’s when “All Bluebirds Are Blue” would be on repeat for an entire half with a third of the crowd we get now. This might be controversial but the “heyy Barrowoow” is absolutely shocking. The atmosphere never really recovered after the “Ultras” and fair play to the groups that organised it all, but it was a largely a European thing that never really took off in England and needed organising and money to produce displays. Do any lower league sides still do it?
“Glad all over” has just about been adopted, but should only be used at the end of a win, not blasted out at ear splitting decibels, let the crowd celebrate the goals without it, I guess its just the way it is now.

It’s quite simple really Jonty, the atmosphere reflects the way we play.
We are absolutely starved of any excitement, time wasting, cross field and back passing the norm.
We have zero flair and the few players capable of generating anything are played out of position.
It feels we are stuck in a time warp waiting to be put out of our misery.

We desperately need a lift and this has got to come from the players, management and owners hopefully starting at Newport.
The time for turd polishing is over roll up your sleeves and play for the badge do that and we’ll do our bit.

Don’t think it’s simple as that. Cup game at Wigan will create an atmosphere we could only hope for at Holker Street. It’s been on decline for years, even with a winning team it’s not the “bear pit” some have tried to make out and certainly not giving us “home advantage” as a 12th man. People don’t like to shout out for consciousness of criticism “ie did you hear that idiot on the pop side shouting getting it forward” What’s idiotic about that? its 90 minutes and passions will run high, so go for it, say and shout what you like, so long as its not controversial, or hate filled, racist, sexist etc. No one should bat an eyelid at anything shouted out, some quips are hilarious and fans around laugh, or at least this is how it used to be. Fans used to make up new chants every game.

90% of home grounds in England are the same , it’s rare there’s any decent atmosphere from the home end.

It is rubbish but as mentioned above it feeds off what’s being served up on the pitch for most of the games. Also you think about away followings and how the home and away end bounce off each other. Having 200 away fans in that temporary stand isn’t giving much to bounce off , compared to a big following where they get the HSE as well.

Fair play to the small amount that do give it a shot each week behind the goal sadly it dies out as there isn’t involvement but that’s on the people in that area if they wish to join in or not.

Ultimately it’s on the people attending , if they want it to improve join in!

There was obviously some issues don’t get me wrong but the atmosphere as such died off when the ban on under 16’s coming unaccompanied came in tbh
But it’s not even just about a atmosphere these days, the ground just feels flat full stop, even the moaning on the popular side when something goes wrong isn’t as loud, people are just carrying on talking to their mates rather than being fully invested in the game

I have to agree with that. There’s certain areas where we are weak and need to strengthen, but there’s still some decent players in there at least on paper, earning decent money who haven’t delivered.

I don’t think the set up suits the players we have and is almost trying to put square pegs in round holes, ridiculous playing Whitfield as a wingback for example. That being said the players also have a responsibility once they cross the white line and at the moment quite a few could do a bit more.

Absolutely this, pathetic decision hidden under some guidance rules, if this had been in place when most of us were younger then I for one would never have gone to watch Barrow !
It was great I used to travel from Ulverston with mates and it was brilliant!
We could easily drop this draconian rule we have stewards now who ( using common sense should control this)
We could even have a membership scheme for under 14's where we could offer them discounts on shirts/ food etc ,get this advertised in schools infact involve the se factions
It's not rocket science and the irony is we're always promoting a community club, come on Barrow we can do better than this give the kids a break they face enough rules in their lives as it is THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX! ( opposite for our forwards! 😂 )

I think the decision was made to deter the little scrotes that were gathering by the away segregation and shouting abuse and on a couple of occasions throwing objects into that end. Most of them weren’t there to enjoy the football and were more interested in goading away fans. Unfortunately kids of today against kids of 10-15 years ago generally behave very differently.
