To be fair to him, if you watch his video from Thursday he admits that prior to the meeting he thought his numbers were up in regard staying up and that he was shocked when the proposal was spoke about which would keep them up.
Even says that there will be twists and turns and it is still democratic which is what he asked for
Have never discounted him in terms of his business instincts or his ability to think creatively Adam. His development of Mill Farm is a model for us all.
But even his friends would probably tell you that he can be a very difficult man to like. Doesn't like losing and doesn't deal with compromise or contradiction very well.
As someone who does know him personally, the one thing I can tell you is that he won't stop while there's still hope of saving his club's place in the NL and although at times some of it comes across as nothing but bluster there's a lot more to it than that and I believe his allegiance with the Ebbsfleet owner makes them collectively stronger than both of them acting individually but you're right he definitely hates losing and certainly it isn't something that he.s used to. I still think the way out that satisfies everybody is that the NL run with two extra clubs next year and decide how to readjust once they see how many clubs they lose to the pandemic.
Not sure that would pass the FA council as it unbalanced the leagues further.
I wonder if him and Ebbsfleet really do go through with legal action. He said himself that it was extremely difficult and pointed to the South Shields case. I listened carefully to a sports lawyer on the radio last week when the whole Peterborough, Tranmere, Sunderland, Stevenage EFL campaign was going on. His thoughts were that it would be very unlikely to win a case, pointing out that the clubs legal basis was that PPG was an unreliable method of predicting outcomes. He said that PPG wasn’t being used as a prediction formula but rather a means of bringing the season to an end using current and factual data available and from that, each team is given a total, eg. 1.92 and that total then forms your place in the table. Future games aren’t being predicted and can’t be played so it was therefore a fair system.
I was doubtful at first but the lack of any legal action from those hard done to in the EFL suggests he may be right and that the EFL resolution is legally sound.

Ebbsfleet & Fylde will now vote against it.
However it should gain 8 votes from the North/South.
All the teams at the top will go for it so should all the teams that were close to fourth from bottom.
I expect this will get through....

Following this thread is like the 3 year Br***t saga condensed into 3 months. "Barnier said this, but Macron is reported to want that, while Merkel is believed to be pushing for something else....." etc. Haythornthwaite is the Irish prime Minister trying to torpedo everything and Suffolk Blue is our Laura Kuenssberg, interpreting every move. Fortunately, we don't have a Theresa May or Boris running the show.
Jim, whilst I take that as a great compliment I fear it is misplaced as these days I look more like Andrew Marr than Laura Kuenssberg.

The BBC gets it wrong...or do they?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53020825
"National League clubs are to vote on ending the season via points per game.
Under the plan
Barrow would be promoted to League Two as champions
while only bottom side Chorley would be relegated.
The proposals would allow play-offs for a second promotion place to the English Football League.
However, a plan to cancel play-offs in National League North and South has been removed from the proposals amid uncertainty over what the government classes as elite sport.
The initial proposal was that only the champions would go up because only the National League is thought to fall under the classification of elite sport.
That would mean Wealdstone winning National League South while Kings Lynn would leapfrog York City to take the North title...."
So, according to this, only one club would be relegated, but 4 would be promoted!
And still the National Board, who appear to have been caught out lying to their own member clubs threaten them with Null And Void.
"Clubs will now have to decide whether to support the motion, with the National League indicating that if it does not go through they will next consider declaring the leagues null and void."
As has been suggested in the posts above, if you do not relegate the same number of clubs that are promoted, you open yourselves to criticism.
I think that the current National Board need to be replaced, but obviously only after the news we have all been waiting for has come about.
A shambles and shameful is the impression that they have given to everyone in my view.
Nobody knows for certain until the ballot papers are released to clubs:
The league need to decide whether they want to put the play offs back on the table: (which judging by the outcry and the fury then I would be amazed if they didn’t)
If they do put them back on then the likelihood would be that the relegation from the national league would also change from 1 down to the bottom 3 down to balance the leagues out
And that proposal would easily get through. The top 7 teams in NL would vote for it plus all of NLN and NLN which is 15 votes. The bottom 4 in NL plus, possibly although I doubt even if that would happen, Stockport would vote against it making 5 votes. That means only 2 of the remaining 13 NL clubs would need to vote for it and I would think almost all would to preserve the NL to EFL promotion levels. Absolute certainty to get through.

Have we moved onto the stage where we've really pretty much accepted Barrow's promotion as a given? Most of the last few pages has been about relegation/promotion to/from the NLN and NLS - none of which seems to impact Barrow as far as I can see.

Dont be too sure Russ. You seem to be ruling out the possibility that guy responsible for sending out the proposal accidently misplaces the correct message and the members end up being asked to approve the purchase of several gross of monogrammed National League pencils.

If for example, 3 clubs abstain from the vote, does that mean we’d only need 15 votes or still require 51% of all clubs? I can see some doing that as they did when the season was brought to an end.

It needs a 51% yes vote so clubs who abstain to vote won’t be counted
The vote to end the season had already reached the desired mark before the clubs returned their votes which is why it was declared before they did vote
You won’t find many who will do that because the likelihood is that the next proposal offered will be null and void

Nope. I'm not believing, or saying anything until it's there in black and white.

Any club with league aspirations would be stupid to vote against the proposals unless they thought something better was going to be on the table (national league has indicated null and void potentially the only other option)
What if we had an unfinished season next year? If we break off the link from the FL this year what is to say the league says thats fine but no more promotion from the NL .. No club will sacrifice that even our friends from near Blackpool if they want a way back and are serious about league football

The vote will get the 17 votes required , all the north and south teams are unanimous that's 8 votes , top 7 teams in the national league will vote yes that's 15 that only leave 2 votes !

And as Adam said earlier it's 51% of those who vote, not the number of clubs in the league.

Eh??
Everyone in the National league votes (24votes)
Everyone in north and south votes but there votes equate to 4 votes each between leagues (8 votes)
It needs 17 yes votes to go through

Also my way of thinking.
