FA Cup 3rd Round Draw (Home to Rochdale)

United will be shown anyway as they are the cup holders & they always show the cup holders but the visit of Reading is hardly riveting. Think they will also show the red scousers against Newport or Plymouth & Arsenal at Preston is a defo. Not sure how many other live games are shown over the whole weekend but I reckon those three are certainties.

I have kept my ticket stubs from Tranmere, Taunton and Bristol would been concerned about getting a ticket if it had been poxy utd,but should be ok for Rochdale but the club in future should be looking at issuing vouchers in the early rounds.

What if a fan has paid through the turnstiles and doesn't have any ticket stubs. A good point!

Why doesn't the club give a ticket to each fan entering through the turnstile with a voucher printed on it. It would be a piece of memorabilia in its own right (I hold on to some of mine when purchasing from the Cross Bar and all of them from away games). As Cromwell's Ghost suggests, the vouchers on the tickets could be used to purchase tickets for big games which we could be involved in...
Surely this wouldn't be too costly for the club? (Maybe just print ticket/vouchers when we're involved in the early rounds of the cup to keep the printing costs down).
It would prevent loyal fans from missing out on tickets for big games.

After giving it some thought...I responded with a resounding NO!
I've followed the club from the age of 8.

yep - United's game is a banker as is Preston v Arsenal. not sure about Liverpool's match - that shouldn't be.... but...
Sutton v Wombles is a possibility also - along with us that's the most appealing game for non-league v league.
The BBC loved us on Sunday... I think there is a 50% chance we will be the Friday night match

I really do get your point that the club have made a big error here as there really was a higher chance of us progressing this season in the Cups due to the heavy investment on the playing/management/scouting side of things, which I for one agree with as after all without that we wouldn't be having this conversation as we'd be mid table & probably out of the cup already.
All The behind the scenes/background/office stuff has obviously been lower on the pecking order while just as important & is better than it's ever been previously during our NL days, But the reality is it needs more infrastructure & procedures, everyone knows this and it's not being ignored is it, we now have a commercial manager & shop/office peeps doing more than previously & surveys being tried out etc, As the great sage of our time (Dave I) famously said "Roose wasn't built in a day"

They are trying, By getting Regulars to apply for tickets early to 1, Ensure they get tickets & 2, So they have your info for future scenarios like this, It's no where near perfect but they are trying, Yes this deffo should have been thought of earlier but I guess it wasn't or if it was it wasn't planned for which would bad but it's hardly a hanging offense.

In fact the club have got off very lightly here as imagine the carnage if we did get a Premier club at home instead of Rochdale.....Hundreds of Regulars would have missed out with the stampede for tickets from the Big event attendees.

To say I'd never support them again is more a reflection of how important you view yourself IMHO than a reflection of them who dropped the ball here & is bang out of order again IMHO

I missed the Dover at home FA Trophy & Colne away games & was gutted, Especially Dover as I was working in Kent and traveled up especially missing out on work etc but [SwearFilter] off as I was I couldn't not support the club I've follow since childhood because of an error, just my view.

But you're slightly off the mark. Your response seems to indicate that YOU were responsible for missing those games. The point I was trying to make is that if THE CLUB - due to poor ticketing policies - (ie shi**ing all over the regular fans) prevented me from attending a game that I really wanted to see I would stop supporting the club. To be honest, I don't think many regulars would take too kindly to missing an important game due to a Glory Hunter being in possession of 'their' ticket, do you?

If you don't view yourself as being more important than a football club, mickmike, then that's your perogative.

My dad, for example, has attended every home game this season (including friendlies etc), but hasn't attended either of the away cup ties - by your system, someone who only attended the Bristol game and no home games is the more loyal supporter.
It's nonsense.

The rules ARE set out at the start of the season, as far as I'm aware - if you buy a season ticket, you get first dibs on cup games. Everyone knows that, and it shouldn't be an issue.
Sponsors will also get their allocation (would they get more if it was vs Man U, for example?), and then it's for everyone else to make the effort to get a ticket as soon as they can once they go on sale.

As we have already stated, if the club told you at the start of the season to keep your ticket stubs each time you attend a game, then in big match cases just prioritise the sale to the people with the most stubs.
If you lose your stubs then its your own fault

Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool again. No surprises. They'll be happy in the pubs up and down the country. No non-league clubs get a live game.
At least we play on the Saturday.

Yeah, not questioning that. Just questioning other posters' "I've supported the club for 30 years and went to Bristol, so I should get a ticket" mentality. Currently, the only way to ensure you get priority is to buy a season ticket, yet there are people saying that they would quit supporting the club if they couldn't get a ticket - it's ridiculous.

Again, I can see the merit in your plan of people collecting stubs, but it couldn't work.
So they put the call out to everyone who has attended 20 matches to come forward? Then once they've all got their tickets, they call everyone with 19 stubs to come and get their tickets? Then 18 etc.
It couldn't work - and if you just said "everyone with 10 or more stubs can have one" and all the tickets go during this period, you could have someone with 12 tickets missing out (if they sold out) and someone with 10 who picked their ticket up earlier. This notion that one fan is more loyal than another just doesn't make sense. There are too many variables and conditions that people would take issue with.

Surely the more ways the club can use to get people to buy season tickets the better. It's how they make money over the summer. If you want to absolutely guarantee you have a ticket for games like this then buy a season ticket. The monthly payment options are straightforward plus you always have a guaranteed ticket and priority.

Think I'll be doing it from now on.

This is only Rochdale but it could just as easily have been a prem club.
