Re: Barrow v Harrogate Town, match thread
I think you were just in time. Before yesterday's match Oddschecker was showing 100/1 with Bedfred, Betfair, Paddy Power and Sky Bet. After the game only Betfred was still 100/1. Now the best showing is 50/1.StephenD wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 10:09 amI assumed that was out of date but it isn't and I have. I think someone said on here earlier that we are 100-1 to be relegated, so you may want to have a punt on that.![]()

Re: Barrow v Harrogate Town, match thread
Just watched the highlights.
For all his brilliant saves, I've been saying for a long time that Farman rarely intercepts high balls in the 6-yard box, which a goalie owns. Harrogate headed the ball in from 2-3 yards - See X - that's FARMAN'S BALL but he's glued to the line. His inability or lack of confidence to collect these balls is a massive FLAW in his game and the goalkeeping coach should urgently address it.
Mahoney's 'David Beckham' penalty was the worst effort I've seen in a long time. See X.
2 huge errors, otherwise a 1 - 1 result.

Too late for that now. He's 35 and isn't going to change now. He is what he is and is one of many goalkeepers who aren't at their best dealing with crosses.SayitagainSam wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 11:29 amJust watched the highlights.

Luckily for you you’ll have been sat at home tucking into your £20s worth of fish & chips with curry sauce….from Matties instead of getting behind the team at the game.SayitagainSam wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 11:29 amJust watched the highlights.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Ive said this for 2 years now. It starts at the back. He doesnt come for anything at all, wont come off his line but has got away with it because his shot stopping is decent and most on here havent got a clue. Hes poor.SayitagainSam wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 11:29 amJust watched the highlights.

Look at Belshaw, came and punched 3 or 4, caught crosses to take the pressure off his defenders
I would put Stanway in
Re: Barrow v Harrogate Town, match thread
Farman has his faults and that’s why he is a L2 goalie and not higher up. But he is not the reason why we are where we are. If you look back over the past 2 seasons he has been more than decent and he is one of the reasons that we have done so well.

Re: Barrow v Harrogate Town, match thread
Salford first goal his fault, Tranmere too slow off his line gives away a penalty, Bradford second Goal his fault yesterday both goals rooted to his line first goal second shot goes right under his body!
Yes he has done well previously BUT at the moment he looks a bag of nerves and at times irrational!

Don’t think Farman is immune to criticism and I would say he has enough credit in the bank from the past few seasons. Although this season he’s been just as bad as the defenders in front of him, the whole unit has stunk

Re: Barrow v Harrogate Town, match thread
They handed the keys to the castle over to a football agent after some interest from someone else. That's the oldest agents trick in the book.
For me we looked clueless yesterday terrified to shoot terrified to have a real go. Getting in good positions then it ends up back with the goalkeeper. I get there has been some injuries but it all seemed a little shambolic.
Individually we have a good team but could someone else get a better tune out of these players?
The upsetting thing for me is that there are no amazing clubs in league 2, I've not seen anyone decent.
If things don't change we will go down which would be a real shame. Commercially and infrastructure wise we are a long way from being a proper football league club.
As I've said before the club is ran by enthusiastic amateurs.

Re Farman- the key question- Does he save us more points in games than cost us? Answer is yes. Still No.1 for me. Although from what I’ve seen of Stanway he is a good prospect and would have no problem if he started.
Still searching for the Young Soul Rebels

Re: Barrow v Harrogate Town, match thread
This season i disagree! Alot of goals have come from his direct errors or caused by his inability to do something which is a fundimantal part of his role as a goalkeeper, its not all shot stopping and kicking u know?
