A very good post that. Anyone there prepared to put there name to it could do much worse then emailing that exact post to both atherstone and Warwickshire Police...

Are you a barrow fan or neutral then Casualobserver?

I'm the barrow fan formerly known on here as electricblues but I haven't been able to log on here for some time. Something wrong with my account, I think.

If anyone can think of anything else that needs to be asked then go ahead and add to the list, particularly those who were there.

Wondered where you'd gone, always liked reading your posts.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

By the sounds and look of it banning orders are way below what is called for here, a real example needs to be made of these thugs.

The 200% article mentioned earlier is very good and does suggest that with it being an international weekend and no top flight football the press may treat this very lightly. It may even go mostly unnoticed nationally. May explain the poor article on the BBC website using the word "allegedly" regarding the pitch invasion, while the Daily Mail and our very own NWEM have photo's of it happening. It was on the BBC North West News Sunday evening and I think they used a clip from BBC RC post-match when one of the fans rang in, name was displayed on screen but sorry I forget who it was.

I noticed that since their initial story the Daily Mail report has been updated. It has some more photo's of the ground, one showing red smoke rising as the players shake hands at the start. It also has the police stating that one person not from Atherstone was injured but did not require treatment. Does this tally with peoples experience? It certainly sounds like more than one picked up injuries. I think the police need some help by the sounds of it.

If anyone can obviously help the police like Hadrian says call Warwickshire Police on 01926 415000. Alternatively you can use the new national non emergency number 101, then ask for Warwickshire Police. A call to 101 costs 15p no matter how long you are on the phone. Info on Police 101 number.

It certainly doesn't tally with this comment on the Evening Mail website:

"I came to the game as a neutral and sat close to the Barrow fans. What I cannot understand is why many news reports including this one say Barrow fans were subject to "abuse" MY GOD. Atherstone "fans" threw fireworks and then waded into Barrow fans (who were mainly OAP's, kids, and women). the level of violence was very frightening, I saw a women get attacked by 3 men, a pensioner punched repeatedly and many young Barrow fans attacked 3 or 4 to one. This was not a hooligan firm meet, this was a horrible attack on normal family people and I am shocked. Stewarding was poor, but not there fault."

Some of the idiots from yesterday are trying to be clever and denying any wrongdoing now. Some even going as far to say that both sets of fans were as bad as each other. Maybe if they'd met on the half way line and not in the 'segregated' Barrow end.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.

If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

Those fans with black eyes or any brusing or scratches etc take photo's and document everything and forward it to the Warwickshire police number listed.

Although my 'Comment' sent to the DMail hasn't been reproduced (odd that no-one else appears to have commented, too?) it is good that my suggested errors have been incorporated in the updated article.

Paddy Lacey and two of the atherstone fans... Meanwhile gregg mills runs away 8-)
 Gregg Mills  what about helping your team mate out as 2 oiks are having a go at him, shame on you. IMO
Just to clarify Greg Mills was running to head off some Atherstone fans who were going to get Paddy from behind. No shame there.

I can confirm this was indeed the case. I have asked for thanks to be passed on to both Paddy and Greg

Disgusting scenes hope everyone is ok!!! Atherstone take football back to the 80s and should feel the full force of action both the club and these plant pots should be ashamed!! Where any arrests actually made once the plod decided to turn up???
