Average it seems.... we seem to be signing with no impact.... Next week we will sign another defender.

Yes indeed. I missed Byron but, he also didn't play much, so we effectively had a first team with only 1 player over 30 for most of the season.

I'm a bit frustrated by the showing in the first 5 games. We were spoiled last season by the aesthetics of the play and how effective it was. A repetition of that will not happen for a number of obvious reasons - different players, different manager, different quality of opposition. Impossible to predict how we will do in the sense of can we stay up this season? From what I've seen so far the opposition are more canny and tougher than in NL. Our players are ok and aren't getting overwhelmed individually or as a team, but worryingly there are too many individual mistakes. If we get a reputation for being like that any opposition will always think they are in with a chance. I know it's early days, but I haven't yet seen anything from our manager that cries out " he knows what he's doing", on the contrary. If we are to be ok in this league we should have been able to beat 10 men last week and this.

I and alot of fans agree with you, we sponsor a player and feel like it's the Cox era allover again.... lump it over midfield everything will be OK...

From what I've seen, we try and play from the back through each third. It looks good on occasions but teams drop off, pinch it or pounce on the mistakes. We can be direct and it works. It's not as sexy as last year and there seems something not quite clicking but not dreadful.

Agreed. There is less long ball than there was two or three games ago.

I think that, individually, the majority of the players are good enough to compete in this league. Kay's interview mentions lack of self belief. The contrast with last season is stark. Evatt had massive self-belief and he communicated this to the players. He knew exactly what he wanted from them, they had a clear sense of direction and knew if they did what he told them they would win - even when they had setbacks. That all seems to have gone.

Our style last season was playing the ball to feet with quick movement, combined with tenacious pressing and closing down. Now it's just too slow and I don't think we are now closing down as well as we did earlier against (eg) Derby.

Sadly, I can't see where the belief is going to come from. Evatt was a one-off, I don't think we could have expected to find a similar replacement. But, much as I hate to say it, Dunn just does not inspire me. Still, it's early days and I haven't given up hope that a settled team with a decent pair of strikers might start to produce some results.

Josh Jay looked really down in his interview, he and the team seem to be crying out for someone to give them inspiration that man has to be DUNN we need a team fired up when they come on to the pitch they need a game plan where everyone knows their roles watching our team now is like watching a relay team who know how to pass the baton to each other but don't know which way to run round the track!

I have watched every minute of every game and you're absolutely correct. The slow pace is the big difference from last season. We get forward far too slowly now and give any defence a chance to get enough players back to defend easily.
