Atherstone match thread
Re: Atherstone match thread
I spoke to Warwickshire police today, an officer is coming round Thursday to take a statement, I have advised them I want to make three separate complaints, one against the aggressors who assaulted us, you against the police for failure to act and one against atherstone fc for failing to secure my/our safety at the game. I urge others to do similar.

A very good point that must be made. 3 different parties at blame here. The Chief wrote:I spoke to Warwickshire police today, an officer is coming round Thursday to take a statement, I have advised them I want to make three separate complaints, one against the aggressors who assaulted us, you against the police for failure to act and one against atherstone fc for failing to secure my/our safety at the game. Was your lad wearing an orange coloured jacket. If so i'm glad we managed to get him out of the stand to safety.
I would like to thank the Atherstone director and a true supporter who kindly gave a number of Barrow fans a lift back to the town centre after the match in order to avoid the waiting ambush.

Yes he was. Many, many thanks for your actions on Saturday. I don't think he realises how lucky he was to be surrounded by such top quality people like you - the polar opposite of others that were there.

Re: Atherstone match thread
When I was checking on the boys at the burger van a smoke cannister crashed into the side of the van, narrowly missing a crowd of people and the serving hatch into the van. At the time, this was accompanied by Barrow fans rushing out of the entrance from the segregated area. I believe the burger van owner thought the Barrow fans had started trouble and were throwing things at the burger van. The owner clearly felt threatened and there was a confrontation with a Barrow fan where there was a lot of shouting and posturing but no violence. A woman Barrow fan (sorry, I don't know many people's names) intervened and managed to calm things down, making it clear that it was the Atherstone 'fans' who were the source of the trouble.
Very little has been posted about this incident, I was one who was narrowly missed by it. If that cannister had hit the van about 12 inches higher it would have entered the van and created potential fatal consequences.

This incident needs reporting to the police who are doing the investigation, have you sent your details into them?GreyBluebird wrote:Very little has been posted about this incident, I was one who was narrowly missed by it. I would imagine with all the shit flying around over the whole thing the police will be very keen to make it look like they're doing the right thing now (even if the right thing should have been done on Saturday)
I hope everyone who was there can make some sort of witness statement.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Being dealt with by the Birmingham FA
Get your accounts of the day sent to them as well.

I hope people keep writing to the different investigating groups. A simple copy and paste of your account to the different Police, FA, and even papers will suffice.boyliegladbach wrote:

It also mentions about CCTV footage. Anybody see any cameras inside the ground, and was the game filmed?

Re: Atherstone match thread
just seen the youtube vid when they played us, apparently one of our fans said that on the way to the ground the A********E fans threw flares and smoke bombs into a passing service bus, luckily nobody was on board apart from the driver, we should have contacted someone regarding these awful scenes, we as two sets off supporters following our team should not be subjected to this type of lunacy, truly feel sorry for all at barrow who was scared, or beaten up, hope everyone is ok

All the different reports will feed in to the FA, the local fa being involved is quite normal, but it will all end up with the FA.
Certainly our report is going direct to the FA, along with the refs report.
Of anyone wishes to add to the clubs report, please get in touch.
