If he can cross its worth having him just to take free kicks and corners. Our set pieces are dreadful
Not really relevant, but Messi is 33...
Stanley Mathews was 50. And sports science or whatever you call it had'nt been invented and made into a " degree" at university so any dimwit could get a job in sport. Footballers managed with a couple of laps of the pitch, 10 pressups, 20 fags and ten pints. Ahhh, those were the day's

Playing on mud heaps and taking their kit home in a bag for their lucky, lucky wives to wash. In a washing machine if they were married to a very good player. About £12 a week back then.saltcellar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 6:01 pmYes and in those days Saturday morning was part of the working week.
Working until dinnertime, then playing at 2-00pm.
No floodlights in those days.
Mud heaps? Thou were lucky! Me and my 10 brothers had to pay 3 shillings each to play on a stinking rubbish tip, then take a bath in the freezing Reservoir, before walking 8 miles home, usually backwards, in the pouring rain in the pitch black. Washing Machine? Luxury. Pure luxury! We lived in a hen-house, but it was home to us, had to wash our kit in the septic tank, before our Dad would beat us silly with a cricket bat if we hadn’t won by at least 7 goals. Try telling that to the young ones of today.GTBLUE wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 7:30 pmPlaying on mud heaps and taking their kit home in a bag for their lucky, lucky wives to wash.
