Peter, are there any current plans or requests for a revaluation of the ground.

No to both.

The only communication we have had is a reply to a letter we sent asking if Mr Casson was still interested in furthering his plan's following his article in the evening mail.

The reply was that at this time he saw no need to go through the board, but would present his plans to fans at a meeting.

:o The Day before the AGM??? The plot thickens!!
Makes sense really because surely Mr casson is a member and would like to attend AGM whilst he is over.

As far as I'm aware, we've had minimal new members joining up.

Also, the open meeting being held is for all fans, which is fantastic.

However, if those fans aren't members, they don't actually have a say in what happens at the club. A members meeting would have been a better idea, as he would be speaking to the people who would be voting on any proposals.

Peter, may I ask if the club has had any direct communication at any time with Mr Casson or has it all been via 'the solicitor from Liverpool'?

The board met directly with Mr Casson and his associates before I joined the board.

Since then it's all been via solicitors, although that's fairly standard for this type of thing.

can people join to be members now and still have a say in any major decisons?

The reason I say this is because if I wanted to take over the club or wanted to influence any kind of decison by the club then a 100 of your friends joining up would be enough to sway any vote I would say given the numbers that turn up to the AGM's. Or if it came to making a decison would a ballot of the whole membership be required?

I think anyone 18 or over can join as a member at any time and attend the following AGM.

For something as big as a vote on the future ownership of the club you'd get far more than the usual number of 70-80 that turn up at the more straightforward AGM's that don't have any contentious decisions/votes taking place Charlie. You only have to go back to the time when Colin Moore put a vote of no-confidence in the entire board when around 400 turned up, there may not be quite as much interest or as many members turn up now but I'd expect a helluva lot more than 100 would turn up.
Members that turn up at the relevant AGM or EGM would be elligible to vote but those that are unable to attend can vote using a proxy.

Even if the members vote to sell, the transfer of the football registration from one company to another would then still have to be looked into and ratified by the FA, in addition to various checks on any new directors. I seem to recall that it took the FA quite a while to get Peter Garbacz fully checked out :o

"uncle peter" i get your point about "it would have been better with a members meeting" but unless the club sanctioned this how would mr casson get access to the names of members to check their credentials?
also just a thought, has there been any discussion changing the date of the a.g.m. as it gives no breathing space with the "takeover"meeting taking place the day before and you might get a "knee jerk reaction i.e. proposals etc ?

before anyone starts by saying that means mr casson is dictating issues,i am suggesting this so the a.g.m. doesn`t get out of hand and decisions are made(either way) which we all might regret!

Non-member fans opposed to any takeover could equally round up additional members to boost their vote.

Why would we change the date of the AGM because a public meeting is to be held?

Decisions wouldn't be made at the AGM - an EGM would be the normal route. The agenda item for the AGM is 'Investment Update'.

Incidentally, it was good to see how many AGM/raffle letters were ready for distribution at Tuesday's match - clearly more members than might have been imagined from some previous threads on here. They will apparently be available again on Saturday at half-time and then distribution will start. (People were offering to help with this in their areas; other offers would probably be welcome - it all will save substantial postal costs.) No proxy forms included though.
