Agree it's gone quiet but in recent seasons past we've maybe signed one player up to now at the same point, so more than happy overall.
I wanna take you to an Away Bar

As are players and with contracts running out 30 June I expect a flurry of activity shortly.
We still need 6/7 players.

Nathan Arnold has turned down a contract offer fro Grimsby as he thinks its 'time for anew challenge'. Could he be on our radar (Mansfield born)

Scored goals everywhere he's played, would be a great addition
Just my opinion

Was not at Mansfield when Paul Cox was manager but was a team mate of Liam Hughes at Cambridge.

Quite a few from the National Leagues snapped up by League teams. Southwell was mentioned as a likely target for Barrow and a couple of others I was hoping we might have a chance of getting - Beckles of Aldershot and Deverdics of Dover - have ended up at Hartlepool.

This to me shows you how NL football has changed....Go back several yrs & you've have been chuffed if 1 or 2 players got the career changing move to the FL......Fast forward to today & we're finding several players making the move most seasons and it's the new norm, & now the beauty is we're part of the equation & a new major threat to the so called big ex league clubs thinking they're on holiday for a few short seasons!!

The modern day offers better exposure and faster communication which gets good players noticed more easily by the higher echelons.

Southwell was always likely to sign for Lincoln if he didn't go to a league club. Thankfully he won't have a chance to score against Barrow in the league next season, unlike Cook. Maybe that modern day stuff doesn't work up here as well as we think, does the league read smoke signals? ;)

Rumour on the Lincoln board that Nathan Arnold was set to sign for them then turned them down for a L2 club, possibly his hometown of Mansfield

I think its the Vardy effect or as its jokingly known in NE Wales the Wardy effect. Wrexham sold young goalkeeper Danny Ward to Liverpool after only one FA Trophy appearance for £250k plus add-ons. These included apparently 100k for his first Liverpool appearance (achieved end-of-season when others were rested) and another 100k for his first Welsh game (Friendly before the team left for the Euros.). Chances of pay-offs down the line are an increasing angle as well as the recognition at last that there isn't a great deal of difference between Lg 1/2 and the National League.

That was Pat Hoban, I believe. Arnold must surely be looking at a higher level - I think some Grimsby fans had him down as one of their players of the season.

Ben Heneghan was mentioned earlier in the thread, he won't be coming here, he is on his way to Motherwell. As he is going to Scotland it looks like Chester will miss out on compensation because they didn't offer him terms at least 60 days before his current deal ran out.

Mentioned on taking stock thread... Cox targeting a keeper, defender and two forwards to complete squad according to BBC RC

Is he after a number 1 choice keeper or a back up?
