World Bank statistics on poverty have India poverty at 68.8% of the population. China currently at 0.7% of the population.
In fact, there are many articles and studies on China's huge reduction in poverty and increase in living standards. With regards to living wage - Living cost, China currently has a better standard than us here in the UK. The stereotype of the 1980's/90's of it being all sweat shops is much a thing of the past.

Democracy wise, nearly all international bodies consider India a 'flawed democracy' with a centralised and corrupt election process where power is basically just handed down.
Of course China's poverty has decreased. It has taken half of our industry. You might consider India a flawed democracy it's still more democratic that the EU and at least it is not a one party state that puts Muslims in concentration camps like China is.

You do realise that who whole reason Pakistan was formed was because of that exact reason? India murdering Muslims and putting them in concentration camps. They have had on/off wars over the issue for near 100 years. Even today over Kashmir.

I'm not saying China isn't, I'm just saying that no other country, especially those you named, are any better.

This whole thing wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't for a high profile trade war between China and the US. It's basically the Cold War take 2. Pinch of salt regarding stories from both sides.

So China running concentrations camps is something you're willing to put up with. Do you not think they deserve economic and diplomatic sanctions for doing so? Would you be so hesitant in your criticism if it were happening in the US or Brazil or Italy? I'll wager you would not. Talk about the soft bigotry of low expectations! There's no excuse, no matter who else did the same thing historically.

It is happening in Brazil. They have imprisoned and killed thousands of gay people since their new dictatorship. The US have more work camps currently than the USSR did in its whole existence, including a concentration camp, Guantanamo Bay detention center which has been condemned by every human rights organisation in the world and violates international law.

So why do we still trade with them? Where are the sanctions?

Both sides are equally as bad, but you can't just condemn one and not the other. Ideally we shouldn't trade with either, but sadly our industry has been ripped apart since the 1980's and meaningful jobs have been replaced with mind numbing zero hours jobs doing nothing of worth.
