How does running 50 miles in a week help you win a football match or become a better footballer? Says it all really

I find it unbelievable that after only four games the amount of criticism the team are receiving on this forum. D.B.is now being supported and helped in his coaching work by Hoskins, an experienced man with the Burnley reserve team. He must find it all rather bizarre to read comments from some of the Barrow supporters, so negative almost from the start of the season.
At least there are some positive comments on this forum from people like Mike and John, don’t lose the belief !. Things have been dire in the past, much, much worse, but we can still move forward from this point, we must not loose our ambition otherwise what’s the point. A good example of this is our arch enemy, Hereford, who started off as a Southern League team in the sixties and made their way to the old second division of the football league, OK they are now back in non- league football but what a fantastic ride, do you think the people at this club will now be happy to drop back down to the Southern league?. Defiantly not!, they are ambitious ard we have to be the same. Lets not throw in the towel just yet and except relegation.
As a follower of Barrow for fifty years and now living in another part of the country since 1988, (I still attend all the home games and some away fixtures, before I get criticised for not attending home games) it gives you chance to reflect and think about the communities and areas where I once lived and I’ve come to the conclusion many years ago that many people in Barrow have a very negative outlook on life and lack drive and find it difficult to be positive. Stand on the popular side and listen to the comments. It’s all very depressing
Yes things are not going well at present but lets please give them more time and try and remain positive and above all ambitious.

I suppose you cannot judge it as the same because it is different players, however it was Bayliss himself that promised we would do better and have better players. at the moment I don't see better players.

As a serious point, if today carries on looking like a defeat then that'll be one win in sixteen league games - stat borrowed from another thread.

Thats just not good enough. After the last 2 or 3 months of last season I expected DB to be able to put his own personal style and tactics into the squad. There doesn't seem to have been any progress made as yet - how long is too long before we demand to see some positive results?

I accept his lack of resources, however our style of play and results since February is absolutely turgid and is shown by the crap attendences - we're dull to watch. Lack of money does not dictate matches - tactics do, and I think DB is struggling.

With results from the end of last season an now the start of this one mr bayliss should be under pressure to keep his job his recent record is terrible an the quality of the football is crap most clubs would demand his head by now thats how football managment is.

Disappointed at lack of questions from Andy Woods particularly whats the problem with Obi (Something he should have pounced on when Bayles said we may bring in another striker this week). Didn't even mention Sean Hesseys' absence or question his condition if he has got a problem. Poor reporting.

The record shows that Darren Sheridan and Dave Bayliss record is played 168, won 59, drawn 50, lost 59, scoring 215 goals, conceding 220.
With just Dave Bayliss in charge the record show Played 20, won 4, drawn 5, lost 11, scoring 16, conceding 36. I think that's fairly accurate.

It's fairly clear that something has to change. Is it the right time to change the manager? I think not, that would be a too much a knee jerk reaction for my liking. I think I'd be more in the get the manager in and get him to tell us what's going wrong and how is he going to fix this.

I don't think it takes a genius to realise that Bayliss' media-handling skills are poor. He constantly makes a rod for his own back, as do others at the club ("2010 average attendance for 2010", "Spring 2012 promotion push" etc.).

With that being said, he's one of our better modern managers.

I'd put his recent stumbles down to overall morale being low and having his hands tied, financially. However, those responsible are deeply entrenched. So, should recent fortunes continue, I can see Bayliss being scapegoated and replaced by "a winner" in the Phil Wilson mode. By that, of course, I mean the cheapest option.

My point is, lets be careful what we wish for.
