Yes the BOD have made this very difficult in the past but are slowly opening things up and opportunities are being made available. Even so there is no reason why people cant do things for themselves to help out, like Adam's scorecast, Dave C's posters advertising games, Spiritof1990 getting the gates done, vast numbers of members of this forum chipping in for the shorts sponsorship draw etc etc.

The BOD cannot do everything, this is something even they are starting to realise, everybody who supports and cares about this club should be taking some responsibilty for helping it to continue to exist, be that attending games, encouraging others to come along, buying a programme, merchandise, anything at all they can manage through location, finances or desire to help out.

Those that just want to turn up and watch the football, thats fine too, but these people IN MY PERSONAL OPINION are the ones that want everything on a plate but dont want to put the effort in to help achieve it, and the ones I have the least time for when it comes to listening to their arguements.

So, in your "personal opinion" I've not been putting the effort in for 30 years now. Get a grip man, what an insult. We all support in various ways - money through the turnstile being the most important at the moment wouldn't you agree. Don't start slagging off the loyal fans.
Think your taking his point to the extream there. Good PR is everything be it a football club, a local buisness or whatever. What i think he is saying that this is members club and even though responsabilty ultimatly lies with the board its up to everyone to promote the club in the right way.

Guy mentioned before that his work mate said to him "why bother going' at that point its important to tell everyone exactly why we go, what makes following Barrow more special that then sitting in front of a TV watching a team you have no connections to. Things arn't too good at the moment thats true but lets see how we can help to make things better

The most important thing is the we all turn up through thick and thin, then if you can offer summit extra to the club by volenteering no matter how big or small then thats even better.

If you went to the meet the board night you'd of got an explanation for the poor summer. Although I don't agree with their reasons one was still given.

Should the club pay over the odds in wages for a team thats getting watched by 700 people leaving them in the shitter ? If by Christmas we're not doing well and attendances are still shite I'll completely understand why they let players go.

Paul, Mally, I am not slagging anyone who comes to games off, be it every game or a couple a season if that is all they can manage.

If you read the whole piece you would see that I mentioned that (made bold in this post) and the problems with location, finances etc.

The ones who I have the least time for is those who call themselves Barrow supporters but who attend only the biggest of games, and arent seen from one decade to other on the terraces at Holker Street for regular league games through the thin and thinner times.

And that, right there... Is one of the main reasons why i have stopped attending.
Started watching Barrow about 8-10 years ago, til nearly every home game and few away about 4 years ago... Why? Cos' I was bored with Sky football, all the business, all the inside stuff, the money... Football always came last. But at Barrow, you turned up and had a crack with your mates and tbh the football the last 5 years has been great, true spirit. But i don't like the way the club has been throwing itself the last few years. Over and over they say 'Family club' ect... The one last taste of anti-modern football WANTS modern football and that for me is the downfall. Barrow is, always has been and always will be a rough arse working-class town... And thats brilliant, it truly is! Makes it what it is. If they cater towards that (As they have done in the past!) then people will want it. £14 doesn't just buy you the football now, it buys you the rumours and business news and more... Don't want that. I understand Barrow is a members club, but Joe public doesn't care about that (If he actually knows).

Aye thats all nice but in reality football doesnt work like that and from what ive learnt it never has, i think sometimes we have this thought that football was better 'back in the day' and ran better and fans were respected more etc. thats certainly not the case, Ticket prices are high yes but that filters down from the top, there about as low as we can keep em to my knowledge. The good thing about buying a ticket to watch Barrow that it is valued by the Club and support, your part of something, something that means summit to you as a Barrovian... yes weve had issues recently were there has become a divide between the support and the club but i think last thrsday was a step towards making that better and making this members club work.. that will take time and effort from eveybody.

Re Family club stuff.. im not to keen on that term either, of course families are welcome at our club but so is everyone, if your a lad who like to go with his mates, get on the beer, stand and chant togehter, swear etc then you shuld be made to feel just a welcome and not put off by attempts to detox the place so its fit for families.

I dont think the club is working to its full potential at them mo, TK said that 'its a member club that has been run like a private company' thats wrong and i think they know that now. To move on though we all need to put wats gone on behind us and make this club work cos it can. A fully functional members club is a great thing and a rarity in the modern game. Were by no means down and out and if you think that you need to have a word with yourself cos that kind of attitude will get us nowhere.

poor running, poor management, poor signings, poor comunication between the B.O.D & Suppoters (no change there) lack of promotion of the fixtures, a ground falling to bits. i can kind of see why people dont turn up and pay £14 a pop. i DO turn up week in week out (apart from when working) 1 thing i do know is that we will still be turning up long after the B.O.D/PLAYERS/MANAGER have long gone. WE ARE THE HEARTBEAT of the club! so tonight at the grimsby game lets show the bk and the rest that the club means more to us than it could ever mean to them
BARROW TILL I DIE!!!!!!! :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

I have read that right haven't I?

You no longer go to watch Barrow yet you are on a Barrow fans forum commenting on something you dont take time out to attend & support!!!

That's not having a go but I just can't get my head around the logic.

problem is you can get to see barcelona for around £15 in some games.
I payed 17 for a bundsliga game 2 weeks ago.

footballs just to expensive in england.
This has to be the worst post of the year.
What a pathetic comparison, they were playing down your local ground I guess were they, you just popped down ,payed your £15 and watched the Barcelona.I cant understand now why we all pay our £14 to watch Barrow ,what fools we are.

Its not always convenient to make meetings with little or no notice when living away, especially shortly after you've just spent a whack watching a terrible performance at macclesfield.

The way the club are handling things is giving them bad press! Appealling for volunteers and saying if attendances don't increase then players will be released looks to jonny down the railway as if the club is going to shit!
We can't even update the [SwearFilter] website regularly! One easy way of getting news out and a good feeling around the club and we never use it! Even stupid little stories would at least keep the wheels turning and the club in the thoughts, but whenever they do post a news story its about 3 weeks after.
I know everyones trying to put a positive spin on things but you can't change the fact that were dreadful on and off the pitch.

I asked TK at the meeting last week what were the contingency plans for continued sub 1000 attendances and he eventually conceded that if attendances remained low, we would have to release players. He said that he'd hoped we would have enough points early on which would allow us to thin the squad out later when we were safe but this unexpected poor start has obviously putter a spanner in those works.

Shipping players out is the only thing that makes any sense should gates remain around the 800 or less mark.
Simple economics I'm afraid, christ there are some really big clubs further up the pyramid that sell to balance the books (well maybe not balance the books but to be able to run a football club).

I agree.. Think people are taking this interview the wrong way. Don't think he comes across bad at all. Defo a good sign that he wants the support to get involved and help. Mistakes have happened, we can't do nout about that but what we can do is come together for the best interest of the club
