Its not apathy...its what happens when youre crap at football.
Re: Barrow v Solihull Match Thread
It's difficult to see any hope for this team,it sounds as though all confidence and spirit has drained away.

Re: Barrow v Solihull Match Thread
I've missed games the last couple of years because of Uni but todays the first game I've missed by choice. I can't justify spending my money on the football , there's 4 home games and Workington away to go to. Perhaps the BOD could have came up with an offer 2 games for £15 ? or Entry and a free drink for £10 I don't know if it could be done but I know of a few who are regulars who can't go.
What worried me was I've been a regular home and away for 7 years and a season ticket holder before then. When we used to lose I'd be in a foul mood for the night like something out of ripping yarns. Now I'm annoyed for 5 minutes and after that I don't care. If you'd said to me a few years ago I'd of missed a Saturday home game I wouldn't of believed it, when 3pm came around I didn't miss it at all :/

Re: Barrow v Solihull Match Thread
Ive missed the last 2 home games due to not being well,
Today I returned, I wish I never bothered. Saved over £30 missing the 2 games.
Players don't care, Burns apart non are worthy of the shirt,
There is no fight or passion, just players picking up their wage packets without having to do anything for it.
Its shocking, Gates down below 500!!!! Well without investment in quality players expect them to fall further.
No defence, No midfield and a strike force that doesn't look like it will score before next Xmas.
Massive changes in personnel need to happen straight away, but I'm afraid damage is already done.
Looks like we will drop to the next level. Hope I'm wrong but after Xmas we will be well adrift of safety.

Re: Barrow v Solihull Match Thread
Another very much the same game ,imo players are trying but confidence is so low and they really haven't got the ability to play any better.I
don't know who the contracted players are but that must be the only thing that is keeping them here as I don't think any deserve a contract.
Weve had some poor players in the past but cant remember having so many at once...thanks to DB.
Merry Christmas

Had to smile at a little slip-up by DE in his after-match interview on RC. 'This club is capable of attracting gates of seven or eight THOUSAND'.
If only!

Re: Barrow v Solihull Match Thread
Shameful.
Don't know what it was about today in particular but that was the most depressed I've ever felt watching a game at Holker Street. I think it's probably the realisation setting in that we are probably going to go down, I never thought we'd ever drop below the level we're currently at but I just can't see a way out of it. It may sound dramatic but it honestly feels like we are witnessing the death of the club as we know it, an attendance of 454 for crying out loud. Unfortunately there is no quick fix either, a lot of the people staying away have been lost for good and I can't see crowds getting back to the level we want them to be at for a long long time if at all. The blame for that lies squarely with the board of directors, they still seem to be under the mistaken belief that people will come back if results improve but it goes far deeper than that for a lot of people. The club is well and truly knackered!
On the pitch, I don't think there is any doubt that this is the worst Barrow side I've ever seen. Pre-season I allowed myself a bit of optimism, but christ knows why. Ability wise the squad is appalling, and more worryingly they just don't have the heart to get us out of it. We just went through the motions second half today, there was no closing them down, no getting stuck in, no battling, no anything. Looking at the squad man for man I struggle to say anything positive about most of them.
Tony McMillan - Massively overrated by some, has he actually had a good game for us yet? Sweeps up well, but I'm yet to see him pull off a really good save or put in a really commanding performance.
Andy Burns - One of the very few positives. He's had two poor games these last two weeks, but never stops trying and does look promising.
Paul Edwards - A shadow of the player we had in 2010. Legs have gone, past it and doesn't look like he cares much.
Danny O'Donnel - Very very very very very very very shit!
Robbie Williams - Even worse than Danny O'Donnell.
Duran Reynolds - Did think he was half decent, but I think he's made to look that way because he's playing alongside such a dreadful partner at centre-half. He's been a huge disappointment, not good enough by a long way.
Paddy Lacey - Not sure what his role is, I think it's supposed to be as a midfield enforcer in the Robin Hulbert mould but he's absolutely shocking at it. Looks like he's running in treacle and can't pass a ball to save his life.
Sam Sheridan - Another rare positive, one of the few real footballers we've got. The only worry I have is that his head seems to have dropped recently.
Alex Ray Harvey - Horrible horrible little [SwearFilter]. Thinks he's far better than he is, hasn't got a shred of fight in him and just isn't interested. The sooner he leaves the club the better.
Richard Davies - I can't decide what I think about him, he's just there but doesn't seem to ever do anything good or bad.
Dan Parkinson - Not seen enough of him really, but what we have seen hasn't been particularly impressive.
Jamie Allen - Why are we falling over ourselves to renew this lad's loan? He's shit, looks like he should be good but just isn't. Got a bit of pace but is far too weak and just isn't very good on the ball. Tries hard but thats not enough on it's own, I'd be happy to see him go back to Fleetwood.
Gareth Arnison - Feel a bit sorry for him, always works hard and his record tells you that given chances he will score goals. Problem is we aren't creating anything at all and he's not the type of player who is going to make things happen for himself.
Nick Rushton - How he isn't getting in the side ahead of Jamie Allen is beyond me. Has a tendency to sometimes go missing in games but has shown flashes that suggest there is a good player in there.
Craig Radcliffe - Started off well in his first couple of games but has largely been shit since then whenever he's played. Not good enough.
Alex Meechan - Pointless as a player, offers absolutely nothing when he plays. Hopefully he's more useful on the training ground and in the dressing room because as a player he's a waste of a wage.
As for the two new lads, not a clue how good son of god is but I was relatively impressed by Ted Cribley today. Showed a decent touch and looked good on the ball, not sure how much he's going to be up for the battle ahead though.
Man for man it's just an appalling squad of players, and looking at it there is little wonder we're in the position we're in. Edmondson has got a near impossible job on his hands, I really can't see how we're going to get out of the position we're in.
The club is just an incredibly depressing place to be, and I'm having to force myself to keep going. It really is getting harder and harder though and I don't blame the stay aways one bit.

Re: Barrow v Solihull Match Thread
I totally agree, I left 30 mins before the end, we wouldn't have scored if we played to New Years Day. It's a really depressing experience going down there at present and I pity Edmo, he has a more difficult job than the captain of the Titanic.Kieran wrote:

I don't know if Edmondson was whistling in the dark, or Radio C commentary didn't give a true picture, but in his post match interview he said that he thought we weren't all that bad and I think I heard him say we had more chances than Solihull
Re: Barrow v Solihull Match Thread
I have to agree we had more chances than Solihull, to pick the ball out of the net that is 4-0 up on that one.Jim wrote:I don't know if Edmondson was whistling in the dark, or Radio C commentary didn't give a true picture, but in his post match interview he said that he thought we weren't all that bad and I think I heard him say we had more chances than Solihull
Was it supposed to be the shortest day not the longest day today, because it's felt like it was the other way round!!

Re: Barrow v Solihull Match Thread
I think Darren is the complete opposite of Bayliss. When the players were shit, in his after-match interview Bayliss said they were shit, which is probably honest but shouldn't be said in the public domain.Jim wrote:I don't know if Edmondson was whistling in the dark, or Radio C commentary didn't give a true picture, but in his post match interview he said that he thought we weren't all that bad and I think I heard him say we had more chances than Solihull
Darren seems far more of a gentleman and would never say that a player was shit which is very laudable, but to say they are not that bad is possibly not being totally honest, or he genuinely thinks that, which is worrying.
Might be better if he said 'there is some work required with some of the players'.
He has my sympathy - must be difficult at the moment and he has to remain confident.

Poor Edmo has his arms and legs tied behind hid back with the situation he finds himself in, Really hope his man management skills are good enough for him to raise the belief and then the standards of those players he will want/have to keep and especially those he brings in and gels them enough to survive relegation & begin to build the team he really wants.Three Lie Ins wrote:It's always darkest before dawnJim wrote:It's difficult to see any hope for this team,it sounds as though all confidence and spirit has drained away.
Sad sad times to be a Bluebird.

We're in a very deep hole with a very short ladder!!
I can understand his comments to a point as he is trying to rally and support an absolutely shot squad,
