Radio Cumbria tweeting that Casson confirms Cox has a sizeable buy out clause and is not concerned by Hartlepools interest.

Now every other chairman knows Casson is willing to part with his manager as long as a sizeable fee is met. Lets hope Tranmere or football league sides dont need a manager around christmas time this coming season, when his contract length is shorter.

To be fair to Cox he'd be daft not to talk to them, if they offer him a wage increase and a bigger budget than ours he'd be off surely

Hartlepool seem to have made Cox their number one choice. They have asked Casson for permission to speak to him, I am not sure what would be gained by Casson denying them the request. I hope Cox will tell them he is not interested.

Meanwhile, don't miss the opportunity to speculate on all the disasters that will befall us if he goes, it keeps the thread going until we know for sure.

While it would be a blow, I'm not sure the apocalypse needs to descend before we actually know he wants to leave...

So far we've got an enquiry being made and Casson giving his blessing for a dialogue - good practice and your only option if you want to maintain good relations and trust with your manager. It could be a huge non-story by tomorrow (hopefully).

For Cox, why wouldn't you talk to them if asked? Wouldn't we all talk to prospective new employers, just to sound them out on salary if nothing else? It needn't be interpreted as a huge demonstration of disloyalty or a fundamental lack of faith in us. It's just a man showing common sense and getting the facts before making a career decision.

If, ultimately, that decision is to leave us then fair enough. All eyes are on the club and their recruitment procedure. Then we can panic.

I would have thought casson would have issued a hands off warning.

Id imagine hes mentioned it to cox and cox has said he wants to check it out so cassons hands were tied
