Does it not worry you at all Mick? The signings we've made so far (on paper at least) certainly don't inspire much confidence that we will be progressing from last season

You should be pleased as it's looks like our outgoing were halved last season & now we have sold 2 players for probably record fee's & have a track record of producing hungry young players from the glue leagues & making large sums off them all while enjoying our best ever showing in living memory, it's a crying shame isn't it!!!
And let out best defender go in Livesy as well as loosing Beeley, and Turnbull.
We are going to have to rebuild again rather than keep the core players and add better players
Hardly smacks of ambition or the players thinking the club is going anywhere .
His club his money but lets be honest its a balancing the book exercise and thats understandable its cost him alot to buy the club and pay the wages and his pockets are only so deep.

last season we signed Diarra and Bennett - on paper they didn't sound like the players they've turned into because they'd come from lower leagues - but look at them now...
And arguably our best player last season was Byron Harrison - who arrived days before the season started...

We will do well next year. No idea why everybody is flapping.

Which signings in recent seasons have inspired confidence then? The only players with any kind of profile that I can think of were Hannah and Turnbull and neither of them really lived up to the hype.

Releasing players isn't the same as "losing" them. And surely getting rid of the players that are deemed not good enough for League 2 is not a lack of ambition.
So what you would rather have is a bunch of declining players kept on with big wages, just to prove to the world that Casson does have some money after all?

Trying to make everything fit your little narrative just makes you look a little confused.

Almost as if they were planned for a reason.

So would I. Can't see the slightest chance that Blackpool would pay that sort of money for a non-league player. However, you can't stop players moving upwards and I've always thought that Anderton was the most likely Barrow player to make it in the Football League.

Actions speak louder than words ,no spending in January when we had a good chance to push for playoffs.
Selling players when you say you have a plan shows either you are cash strapped or the plan was wrong in the first place.

Forum polarised as usual.

Have been a fan of Nick well before he dropped his Wilmer. I was at Leamington the day he broke his leg and remember feeling pretty sad and thinking that we'd seen the last of him and that he'd find it difficult to get back into the PNE set-up (his then club) at any meaningful level. Very happy to be proved so wrong. We've had him on loan a couple of times, seen him wander around the VN for a bit and then did a great deal to get him back to HS permanently. A completely different case to Jordan Williams who has a lot of raw natural talent, I think Nick has developed partly because his style and ability has been specifically suited to the set-up he's been playing in. In that sense his progress has been probably more pleasing because the club has really contributed to his development. In that sense Blackpool may be a good choice.

There was a time a couple of seasons ago when we could only ever have hoped to have him on loan (the same experience we had with Ryan Yates last season). So the fact that we have now managed to give him a leg up to Div 1 should be a source of pride and satisfaction. Well done Nick (and well done Coxy). I fully hope and expect us to be having the same discussion about Bradley Bauress in a couple of years time.

Have said before, no club can resist a serious financial offer from one operating at two levels above. To see this negatively would involve having to accept that we had in fact recruited players or developed them to the point where they were in fact too good. Absurd perhaps but a notion reflected perhaps in some of the comments above - and in particular the view that our three new signings might be a little dull and poorer by comparison. A lot of people on the forum know of Asa Hall and few would argue he has what it takes to support a successful season at this level. Having canvassed opinion locally on Dan Jones at the weekend I can also say that Fylde "supporters" rate him highly and are not that pleased that we've picked him up. Lastly, I can also say that having watched Gomis a few times in the last couple of years, I'm convinced that he could be an absolutely brilliant signing and will be immediately adopted by the HS faithful. He was much loved at Sutton and I haven't a clue how we've got him up here (though I'm reasonably sure he and Moussa are acquainted). But in my view another great piece of business and in each case we've prevailed over NL competition.

If you want to see this as a step back then so be it. However, this is a club that has now developed a track record of doing really good deals. I agree that the long pre-season is a very deliberate sign that Cox intends to use it to test potential players and I fully expect us to put out some pretty unusual squads in these games. I think you might see the Cox long burn coming into effect next season and no doubt any level of initial mediocrity will be treated with the usual level of derision. Neither do I give a toss whether the bookies give us a sniff as judging by the non-league press (let alone BT) there is very little consciousness regarding real events at Holker Street or anywhere else for that matter. In that respect Orient and Tranmere can do us all a favour by stealing the limelight and letting us get on with it.

Whatever, this is about the least boring time to be a BAFC supporter since the late sixties.

But none of the points arising from selling Anderton point to being skint or lacking ambition - you've just used it as an excuse to roll out your (tediously predictable) agenda.

So using your theory, Juventus have no plan or are cash strapped for (possibly) selling Sandro for £60m? Everton's plan B must be shit as well seeing as they are probably going to let Chelsea sign Lukaku for £70m....unsure how Chelsea could afford that though because they too must have been "cash strapped" or their "plan was also wrong" when they sold David Luiz to PSG for £50m. In the real world, players are there for the taking at whatever level (if the price is right)

Sit back, relax and try taking in a sensible view like Suffolk Blues above.
