How Brutal a cull does it need to be???

For all things Barrow AFC. Keep discussions civil and fair, we're all Barrow aren't we!

My thoughts exactly on Saturday: Astles has been offered a deal by Chester as has Tom Crawford the 18yr old number 22 who bossed midfield and scored the winner!
I would let the magority go...L.James was the only player who looked , well, like a player for us.
The manager can go too. The system, or lack of one, on Saturday is down to him. We looked like a pub team..Playing Grant Holt in that number10 roll was unbelievable.

I agree Astles looked a very good CH, calm. We need experienced pros right across the back. Keeper and solid back four is key to our team rebuilding.
Still searching for the Young Soul Rebels

Your not serious are you, Moussa has been good this season, probably one of the main reasons we are staying up,we haven’t conceded many especially of late and he has been the rock in our defence. On your theory regarding Saturday, we should sign the whole chester sqaud then because they looked a far better team than us one to eleven.

Re:Chester. Liked the look of their No20 as well as the central defender. If we can match what Chester offer surely they would come to the higher grade. Our defence and midfield need a re-vamp and we need a striker and a target man. Would let Arnold go and keep Dixon

Astles was a great player stocky yes and won’t be the quickest but he did what his job is and did it well - there is a rumour on the vanarama page he has signed for us but don’t know how true time will tell
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it

Have just copied this from Vanarama news. Went out about 5.30 pm
Last day drama ensured that Barrow would remain in the Vanarama National League and Ady Pennock now says that the summers recruitment will be key, as they look to aim higher.

In the end they needed a result elsewhere to ensure, safety was confirmed as they took 20th place.

"At the end of the day we survived in the league, there is a lot to do on and off the pitch, the potential is there for this club," Pennock said.

"It has been a tough season for everyone, it is what it is, but we stayed up and really that is all that matters."

Pennock says work is already well underway when it comes to, what the squad will be for the 2018/19 season.

"There has been a lot of decisions made, recruitment will be key for this football club, some players already know where I want them here or not.

"I have already spoken to players about joining this club, I had two lists ready for if we stayed up and if we didn't, we can now focus on those players who I know can achieve great things in this league and possibly the Football League as well."

Just hope that Holty stays with us. Best deployed as coach or even Manager

Holt is not management material at this level at the moment. Not that good a player now either - OK as a sub but that's all.

Don’t worry we’ll get a statement on the official website about a week before the season starts

Signing Astles would be a great start to the summer recruitment. Nothing fancy but did what he had to do, very similar to McNulty/Jonah but with height.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
